Eldritch Chain question...

Let's say you have 3 monsters (M) next to each other (not 5' next to each other, but within 30' of each other. However, one of the monsters is around the corner from the other two. The Warlock (W) invokes his Eldrtich Chain at the closest monster, and then chains it onto the second one. Can he hit the 3rd monster, who is around the corner, even though he can't see him, but he is within the spells range? Would it matter if the walls were transparent, so that he could see through them, but they would still be solid barriers?

Hopefully I can represent what I am trying to describe here with this small diagram:

I'd say the warlock needs line of sight to all the targets. The fact that you need to make ranged touch attacks against all targets is an indicator, IMO, that you need to be able to view and target it.

(Note: I don't have my copy of CA available, so I'm assuming Eldritch Chain works like Chain Spell)

You need a Line of Sight to each creature you wish to target.

An opaque wall blocks both Line of Sight and Line of Effect.

A transparent wall allows Line of Sight, but still blocks Line of Effect.

Depending on the exact wording of Eldritch Blast, you might not need LoE between the Caster & Secondary target as long as LoE exists both from Caster->Primary and Primary->Secondary.

You also need a clear Line of Effect to any creature you wish affect.

All it says is that you make additional ranged touch attacks against each target, and that each secondary target needs to be within 30 feet of the previous one.

I wonder... If I closed my eyes, and used Eldritch Chain, could I target all the targets? I realize the first one would have a 50% miss chance, but assuming I hit, would I be able to target the secondary ones? Would they get a 50% miss chance too?

Slightly off topic, but...

Could you Quicken SLA + Maximize SLA an Eldritch Chain? Then follow it up with another Maximized SLA Eldritch Chain? If so, ouch... What level would you have to be to pull this off? I calculate 16...

Can you Maximize Vitrolic Blast? If so, would the additional 2d6 per round be maximized every time it did damage?

You need line of sight from your position to every target and line of effect from your position to the first target and from the first to all the secondary targets, I'd say.

So, if you could see through the corner (i.e. made of glass), it would work.

Yep, I don't think the caster level requirement "cost" stacks in any way (unlike metamagic), meaning, that you only need to "pay" the highest one, which is the one for Quicken in that case.

Sure. It's a variable, numeric effect of the ability, or not?

It is like Acid Arrow I think. It does an additional 2d6 damage every round after the first (up to like 3 rounds, depending on your level). So would that just be a flat out 12 damage each round, since initially you did maximize the spell? However it works with Acid Arrow, I would assume it works the same with Vitrolic Blast.
