Pathfinder 1E Electronic Issues of Dragon Magazine from Paizo

My understanding is that Paizo was only granted permission from WotC to reprint issues of Dragon that have sold out. They also are "abridged" versions, since material is removed that they don't have permission to reprint.

You are correct. If the Dragon issue is sold out, then they were able to release it in PDF. A also agree with many of the others. PDF versions of Dungeon would often times be more useful than Dragon.

I think it is kind of cool, but in the latest issue I received there was a mention of it and it said that a subscription to the electronic version only saves you 1 dollar off of the print price. To me, I would rather have the print magazine for so little savings. If I need a back issue though, I am all for it.

Only out of date issues

There was a notice here a week or three ago about advising that Paizo was offering some issues of Dragon magazine in electronic format. I promptly checked it out at www.paizo.com and purchased both issues available.

I was impressed by the way it was presented. Every issue article was a seperate .pdf file, complete with all the artwork and borders. Now, these would be ink hogs if you were interested in printing, but I almost never print electronic products, so that doesn't bother me much. I was eager to buy more. In fact, I looked forward to cancelling my Dragon subscription (which I was going to do anyway) and just buy electronic issues when I wanted them.

Alas, no further issues have been forthcoming, and I've not heard a peep about these on the boards at all. Did everyone miss this, or is there an alarmingly low interest?

So far they only have permission to publish out of print issues in PDF. I believe the next issue to be in PDF is Dragon #298. I believe it is supposed to come out this month.

I must have missed the part about only being able to publish out-of-print editions. I most likely read what I wanted to see, not what was actually written :o

So, another issue this month? Where did the info come from, the Paizo boards? I almost never frequent then.

On another track, does anyone have any idea at the rate which the issues go out of print? Seems like this might take awhile...

Well, considering that #298 was sometime in 2002, I think, you're looking at about three years......

Shay,

The $1 off is not in reference to electronic versions of the magazines. You save an additional $1 on subs to Dragon and Dungeon if you subscribe electronically through paizo.com. We are currently not offering subscriptions to an electronic version of our title.

When they start selling PDF's of old Dungeon's, I'm there. I've actually been trolling ebay for a few weeks hoping for a few good buys, but it always seems like the guy that has the issue I want in good condition lives in England or Japan or something, and who wants to pay more for shipping than they do for the mag.

Hey Keith,

Thanks for the clarification. Can you direct us to a good source for news on this topic? I'm all over this idea of electronic issues, is it possible to advise if you folks are looking at doing the same thing for Dungeon? It seems it would be a popular idea around here...

Thanks!

Oops. Thanks for the clarification. I must have misread that.

Thanks again,
