Alright, how about some background info? In a game Im running, a 1st level Dragonborn Warlord has lost his arm in a terrible encounter with his Hulk'ed out friend. As an emergency measure, the cleric performs an impromptu improvised ritual to transmute a mystical relic in their possesion- that happens to be the target of the legion of undead that surround the warded inn they are barracked in- into a prosthetic replacement, for whats a better place to defend it...

Additionally fluffy, the relic is essentially a glass/rubyware and gold bottle filled with blood that which when is poured on an entrance creates an subtle barrier against the undead(kudos to anyone familiar with the inspiration). So Im sorta seeing the arm as a work of metal tracery and crystalline...muscular mass I suppose, perhaps even hollow to some extent. But thats all window dressing; What I need are some suggestions how to stat its effect. Being a first level character I don't wanna load him up too much, and want something simple and elegant.

Ive consider some sort of slam attack with maybe a nifty encounter power. The effect of weight and balance might be more trouble than its worth, since structural integrity are already sorta being hand-waved as magic...

Love to hear any suggestions.

Curiously, there's a female wizard NPC with a ruby arm in Ptolus.

Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight

(Yes! I remember the original reference.)

Idea #1: It converts damage from melee attacks to be 1/2 radiant damage. That would give additional damage to some undead without having a big impact on other fights.

Idea #2: The arm glows in the presence of undead providing an "early warning" mechanism at times.

Idea #3: The arm needs to be recharged by bathing it in the life blood of an enemy once per 24 hours. For every day missed, the owner loses a healing surge that can not be healed until the arm is bathed again.

Idea #4: Make this a "Weapon of Legacy" that grows with the wielder.
