Elektra bad

in a word...yes, Catwoman bad it is not but damn close.
Not..... even..... close.

Noone that saw Musketeer can possibly put Elektra in the same univers.
Musketeer had characters teleporting from scene to scene with no explanations given. It lacked even the base story telling capability.

Elektra is FAR better than that.
Anyone that likens it to complete failures like Catwoman and Musketeer HAVE to pony up some justified examples before playing that card.

Elektra was not nearly as good as it should have been, but it wasn't close to being that bad.

You pretty much know whether you're going to be able to stomach Elektra from the trailer. It doesn't jump out any surprises - the trailer's a pretty good indication. Anyone who protests that the movie raped them has no business paying money to go see it.

All I remember hearing from you is how bad they are.
If you only mention Spiderman and Xmen, than I think your bar is set a tad unrealistically.

If even X-Men level quality is considered "unrealistic" then there is no hope for Hollywood.

Just don't go see it. It barely even has ninjas. It really is not worth your time. Among my group of friends we agreed that it was worse than DareDevil and worse than National Treasure. For me, it was the worst movie I have ever paid to see.

And all I went in expecting was a bad movie with some ninjas I could laugh at. I was disappointed.

Hmmmm, have to say, it was decent, and it does have a story...not saying on what, but it was there.

And sorry, it was just a little better than DD, it didn't fill me with the dread, when I watch DD a while back.

watching the daredevil directors cut entails watching daredevil again, and i can't bring myself to ever do that again. The sooner that movie is excised from common thought, the happier i'll be.

Elektra is far better than most people on this thread are giving it credit for. It's all about expectations. There are very few fights, few but very good FX, and a *lot* of character stuff. If you want your super-hero movies any other way, don't see it. Otherwise, it's a surprisingly reserved and pretty well constructed film. My major beefs are, first, its lack of scope - we're told about a lot of things, but never shown them - and second, the disposable bad-guy, let's-get-as-many-characters-from-the-comic-in-as-we-can syndrome.

I get the strong impression that the script was constructed around Jennifer Garner and would have been a very different film otherwise. I do not consider this a bad thing.

I liked Daredevil well enough, but not a Garner fan so Electra won't be on the playlist.

I can't see how anyone can reasonbly say Hulk is better than Daredevil though! I FFed to see him throw a tank, then took out the DVD.

Well, then let's just say that my bar does not exist in this reality. I enjoyed DareDevil, even though I knew it was weak and cheesy. I enjoyed Batman 2, even though I knew penguins cannot be menacing. I enjoyed Hulk even though it was a power fantasy with no real tension. I enjoyed Batman 3 because I did not know Schumacher would get even worse with part 4. I enjoyed all three Blade movies. I enjoyed Batman 1. I enjoyed both Spiderman movies. I loved both X-Men movies.

I despised Elektra.

Look, there are good movies, like The Mummy, or Medicine Man, or National Lampoon's Family Vacation. And there are bad movies, like Scorpion King, or Highlander, or Naked Gun 33 1/3. Good movies are different from bad movies in that I don't leave the movie disappointed when I leave a good movie. When I leave a good movie, I'm happy, entertained, and willing to overlook a few weak spots because the story was compelling.

Then there are terrible movies, like Mortal Kombat Annihilation, or Highlander 2. These movies make me regret wasting my time watching them, because someone should have read the movie's script before it was made, or looked at the dailies, and realized the movie was going to suck. A TV show can afford to have a terrible episode or two, but multi-million dollar movies should not suck that much.

But, joyously, there are wonderful movies too. Movies like the first Matrix, or The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. These movies are well-done, entertaining, and original. They are the sorts of stories I hope to be able to tell.

See, I'm not always negative. I'm not even opposed to 'bad' movies, because some movies have to be less good than others. But I just don't see why terrible movies are released and then advertised as if they're actually worth our time. I went to Elektra expecting to see a bad movie. I was still disappointed.
