Elemental Immunities

Is an elemental immune to the Hold Monster spell? I have always assumed it is, because I have thought of it as a paralysis effect. But nowhere does the spell mention the word paralysis, and in the Kuo-Toa immunities section it says they are immune to paralysis and the various hold spells. And shouldn't an elemental be immune to disease? I don't think elementals should have to worry about catching the flu.

Elemental immunities

If you consider an elemental a living creature, it would be affected by Hold Monster (PHB 214).

I assume they are living creatures. All non-living or undead creatures possess immunity to disease, which elementals do not.

A hold monster spell is a compulsion effect that happens to cause paralysis. I would say this isn't the same as a paralysis effect. Some poisons, for example, cause paralysis, which elementals would be immune to. (Although they're immune to poisons as well, but let's gloss over that for the moment.)

Personally I see Hold spells as being a form of paralysis, so Elementals are immune and Remove Paralysis works on them.
Maybe its just the 2e in me, but it seems like that was the intent. I could be wrong.

Just out of curiousity can you ever respond without flaming someone? All you had to say was paralyzed and held are different conditions (you are correct), but instead you feel the need to throw in some insults.
Its getting old, since its in almost everyone of your 2000 posts.

Just read it as it was intended, with a wink in the eye, and it gets funny to see him come up with new insults.
