elemental perfection question

First Post
after reading the elemental savant 10th lvl ability (elemental perfection) it left me with a question.

Her type changes to "elemental" which means (among other things) that she is no longer affected by spells that specifically target humanoids, such as charm person.

so i look up my monster manual under type: elemental
A slain elemental cannot be raised or resurrected, although a wish or miracle spell can restore it to life.

so if i become a 10th lvl elemental savant and i die the cleric can't bring me back?

another question, i'd gain darkvision 60 feet, if i already had darkvision would i simply take the better of the two or do they stack?

Characters that become outsiders like this and the 20th level monk can still be resurected. And the darkvision, you take the best of the two.

Yeah- kind of stinks to be an outsider, eh?

You would use whichever has the better range- they would not stack.

"Native outsiders" can be raised just like normal PC races. This includes planetouched (like tieflings and genasi) as well as transmogrified natives (like monks or elemental savants).

Does that rule exist anywhere except in the FRCS?
I thought I read it in T&B. There's at least one prestige class in there that lets you become an outsider, and IIRC it specifies that you can still be raised.

Now that you ask though, I'm not entirely positive. I'd have to check my books.

If i remember correctly, only FRCS so far (and monk and a few PrCs) have mentioned native outsiders. I doubt your going to find it anywhere else, except with the possible exception of Manual of the Planes. Im not even sure there. Since ive got most of the books, ill look it up today and see.

"Oh look - it's an elemental savant! Quick, break out the brazier of commanding fire elementals!"
What would happen if someone attempted to summon an elemental? Would the character get sucked into a gate and forced to serve (probably not, but it IS an amusing though...)?
Just another well-though-out PrC brought to you by the Wizards at WotC.

No, that summons a fire elemental of which you are not, plus it doesn't summon specific one. And it is a fine class, glad you agree :D
