So I take it, then, your players knew the references too, right? (Yer all theater-rats, ain't ya?) :)
Nope, I've talked to the people in the Ensemble and there was one who used to play but none who wanted to play. Nobody at MIT plays D&D...they're too busy doing insane LARPing stuff with our official "Assassin's Guild." That's why I only get to play online now or during the summer when I'm away. So these players didn't get the reference, except maybe one of 'em :D

The "cant leave the area" part shouldn't affect the CR.. unless its a tiny area.. Only combt oriented things modifies the CR of a creature

Don't go dissin' the Guild, man.
I'm not dissing it, but its existence is truly bad for Pen and Paper gamers who do not want to LARP, as it removes potential players from the field. In two years at MIT, I have not found one person who would play a Pen and Paper game. I have found Assassin's Guild members who own large amounts of the John Kovalic-illustrated "Munchkin" card game, but not a single person who would play D&D or any d20 PnP :uhoh:

Er, sorry - my comment should have had a :D attached. :D Like that, see?

That's really strange. I guess things have changed since I was there, as there was a pretty active P&P scene. Have you tried asking around the SF Society?

I've asked and asked until I just gave up. The ones who play things like Munchkin and Neverwinter Nights who refuse to try Pen and Paper are the saddest of all :(
