Elementals: Living Creatures?

Just to make sure... Are Elementals treated as "living creatures" for the purposes of spells?

The SRD says "Unlike most other living creatures, an elemental does not have a dual nature—its soul and body form one unit."

Does that mean "the elemental is a living creature, but unlike most others...", or "the elemental is not a living creature, its soul and body form one unit."?

I'm also asking because elementals "don't eat, sleep or breathe".

On a side note, are elementals affected by Stinking Cloud, Cloudkill and/or Mind Fog since they do not breathe?

And do elementals age?

Outsider don't have a Dual-Nature either and they don't have to sleep, breath and drink, as well, would you say they are no living creatures.
Elementals are living creatures for sure, but somehow different in therir very nature. ;)
I think they wil be affected by all those spells mentioned unless any entry in a monsters stats block tells you they are not! -But I haven't read the spells description.
I don't think that elementals age, I don't think Outsiders age either, both live eternally until some violent death.

...so your question is: "Are elementals affected by Stinking Cloud, Cloudkill and/or Mind Fog?"

That's easy:
SRD said:
Elemental Type:
—Immunity to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, and stunning.

Which means: Elementals are not affected by Stinking Cloud or Cloudkill, as those are "poisons".

As for Mind Fog: Since it's an Enchantment, rather than Conjuration spell, the "fog" is flavor text. The spell effect still affects elementals - even though elementals don't need to breathe.
