On this subject I have two questions, also. I quickly scanned through it and if they are in there I missed it.

1) How does one identify a magic item?

2) How does one duplicate spells like tongues and comprehend languages?

How does one create magic items that require the specific spells as listed in the regular PHB since EoM doesn't use those spells?

I noticed that some of the magic items the NPC's have are things like cure light wounds. Since we don't have cure light wounds in the new magic system, wouldn't the magic items be different in how they are made and what requirements are needed for them.

Is there going to be a magic item creating system created by the designers of this book to go with their new magic system?

Cure Light Wounds could be Evoke (Life) LEvel 1. Essentially the same thing.

Maybe their should be a Language spell list that will allow spells like tongues and stuff.

I am sure there are many spell effects that were not included (explosive ruins come to mind). I am willing to bet New lists will be on this board soon enough.
 

Hola! I'm slow, but I eventually respond. :)

Many of the things you're asking about will be done, but we didn't have room for them in the initial book. (The Player's Handbook has a *lot* of spells in it!)

You can't do holy or blessed items exactly. Infuse Object with Life would give a somewhat similar effect, but not exactly.

Tongues is easy, in spirit if not in exact effects. Use the Telepathy list for the creature type. You could duplicate the spoken effects of comprehend languages, but not the written part.

There will be a magic item creation system in the follow-up book. Since we didn't have it done yet, the sample characters have Core magic items. TEoM will have magic items at the same power level as the Core rules, though the specifics will be different.

Explosive runes, glyph of warding, and symbol will all be covered by a Rune list.

that sounds really cool. Any chance you can give us a preview of sorts to this? When do you think it will be ready, best estimate is good enough for me, and knowing how things can be delayed I won't hold you to it.
 

I can't really be more specific than "several months" because I may or may not have to get a Real Job. (Blech!) I'm also bad at estimating times, anyway. I missed tEoM's release date by two months. :D

I'm sorry you might have to get a real job, they are such downers sometimes.
