Elf racial weapon's and the Druid

Postie

First Post
As the elf racial listing states that they aspire to the sword and bow and have these's as proficencies.
In the druid class listing it say's that elves are most commonly Druids, could you allow a Pc to use the bow or sword (or both) and still retain the class abilities? It would'nt hurt that much.

Salutations,

A DM could allow anything they want.

This case is against the rules though, if that is what you are asking.

The weapons and armor entry for druids in the PHB states:
"Their spiritual oaths prohibit them from using weapons other than these. ... A druid who who wears prohibited armor or wields a prohibited weapon is unable to use any of her magical powers while doing so and for 24 hours thereafter."

(updated!)

easy house rule for me ... elves get their weapon profs.

also gave druids the opp to take martial/exotic weapon: great club, falchoin, great scimitar ... um there [edit: there, their, they're ...] might be a few others ... [found em!] but I can't remember right now. They do have to spend the feat though.

okay ...

add to weapon list: great club

[need to take feat for these:]

martial: falchoin, scythe

exotic: khopesh (FR), great scimitar

and elfs can use their weapon proficiencies without violating their druid oaths.

Strictly read this means that a druid loses his or her powers after 1) Throwing a rock at someone, 2) Using a two handed club, or 3) Wildshaping into a wolf and biting someone.

The Druid's suffers from old fashioned 'hard' weapon restrictions, the only class in the PH that still does. An elven Druid will be proficient in sword & bow, but will lose his druid abilities for 24 hours if he dares to use them.
