I've wasted way to much time playing this game or it's clones. I hope this pans out.

Meh. What will it do that Eve Online doesn't? He's ten years too late with this - all those ideas heh as on the KS page already exist.

An alternative to Eve is a good thing, I think. Besides I think the vibe would be a bit different, less full time job, and more escapist game. Also I didn't know that Eve let you interact with a select few instead of being tossed into the public pool with everyone.

Though the competition, I imagine, will be tough.

Let you pilot your own ship? EVE combat is almost like Final Fantasy combat mechanically (more complex, but still).

For single player there is always Oolite

Woohoo! I didn't pledge because it was in pounds and the last time I did something with a UK merchant I got charged a huge currency conversion fee, but I am very much looking forward to it and will certainly buy it when it comes out.

Elite was the original game in the genre and I played it a lot as a kid. Never did make it to Elite, but I did get to Deadly.

I just hope it's more like the original than the sequels. They were sort of neat, especially the planetary landings, but the combat wasn't fun.

I didn't pledge, though I'm glad they made it. I'll be waiting for the reviews, and may well pick this up when it comes out.
