Elizabeth was my very first exposure to the talents of Cate Blanchett, so it'll be interesting to see what she can do with the role this time round. Just loved her in the first film. :) Another plus though, Geoffrey Rush as Walsingham! He was so incredible in that part, so it'll be a treat to see him scheme and manipulate again, all for the sake of her Highness. :D And always a treat to see Clive Owen, I'm sure he'll a be a fine Walter Raleigh.

Yeah, it's pretty cool when you can head off the cast with two Academy Award winners and two nominees.

Looks very promising. The first movie was certainly a winner. Cate Blanchett is sunning but also has an inner hotness that shines through in everything she does. :)

Well, the first film looked very pretty, and Kate Blanchett, as usual, did a fine job, but the film was such a botch of history I almost couldn't sit through it. The number of gross inaccuracies really rankled me (Walshingham as 007, the EVIL court of Mary, cross-dressing French nobles, Elizabeth as Religious UberModerate, etc.).

So I expect this one will be just as pretty and just as bad.

Your list is hyperbolic. In understand that you are making a point but could you be factually specific as to the historical inaccuracies as you perceive them? You do understand, too, though, that a dramatization is always going to adjust history for the sake of the framework into which it is fitting its story as well as to focus on a particular point of view (or possibly several)? Now, admittedly, if this was a complete fabrication with no adherrance to the facts whatsoever I think they'd be hard pressed to defend utilizing the names and places and then calling it a story about Eliabeth, but I don't think that is the case here.
