Elven Archer

OK, assuming average stats and a high DEX what would be the best class/feats for a 6th lvl Elf with a preference for using a bow. Any class/combos's allowed but preferably not a fighter.

I've always liked Elven Archer Clerics with the War and Elf domain. (The Elf domain can be found in the FRCS.) You have a choice of 3 dieties: Correlon Larethian, Shevarash, and Solonor Thelandira. The character will have Point Blank Shot and Weapon Focus for free, plus Cat's Grace as a domain spell. For feats, I would suggest taking Precise Shot, Rapid Shot, and Extend Spell.

For a character like this, I would definitely eventually take a level of Contemplative for the Celerity domain. The increased Dex, Initiative, and speed are great for a light armor/high Dex character. Plus, you get Haste as a domain spell.

And plan on taking all 5 levels of Divine Disciple. There just isn't any reason not to.

I'm not sure how they compare at 6th level, but there comes a point when a Cleric is a better fighter than a Fighter due to their ability to buff themselves.

Actually, to pick a nit: Plan on taking four levels of divine disciple. There's no reason to take the fifth, and you'll lose on BAB. (When divine power isn't active anyway.)

Haste boots are probably a better choise than casting haste, since you'll only have one domain haste, or you'll be wasting higher level slots on extra hastes.

I'd go straight fighter for the feats. If you have many add on books, you can find many great archer feats that will make you the best archer. Don't rely on magic, it's a crutch. You'll have the best BAB, you'll get all the feats. That would be a true archer.

I wanted to avoid straight fighter as this PC would be a replacemnet for an existing fighter. I hoped for some inspirations such as a cleric of such and such, or a rogue with an arcane level in something or other or other for partucular spells and the like.

6th level elf psychic warrior archer

Point Blank Shot
Rapid Shot
Precise Shot
Far Shot
Weapon Focus
Weapon Specialization
Psionic Shot

Max ranks in hide and move silent, next level you get metaphysical weapon which you can cast on your bows and arrows for an additional +6 to hit and damage on top of your feats (+1 or +2/+2 within 30') and any powers you should happen to choose like animal affinity for 1d4+1 STR, DEX, and/or CON. Add to that skate and burst and you have a mobile, self reliant, kick butt psychic warrior.

And your 8th level? You already qualify for Deepwood Sniper. First level of that keens all your arrows. Next one increases your critical multiplier.

Elf. Archer.

Oh, and 9th level, Fell Shot.

Energy missiles that do touch attacks that ignore both natural and physical armor.

Note that one level of cleric will be a good deal. Take the Elf and War domains, and you wil get a couple spells and true strike as your domain spell, along with Weapon Focus AND Point Blank Shot, and some weak turning.

As an elf archer, I'd go for the steroypical elf flavor. In this case it means rogue. Yeah the bab sucks, boo-hoo I lose 5 bab over 20 levels. But go for shot on the run, max out those hide/sneak skills and become one nasty sniper/harrier. Feats point blank, mobility, dodge. (9th level take shot on run) You can throw in some fighter levels for feats but then you get an xp hit. I'd look toward order of bow initiate, because if I remember correctly they get some thing like a sneak attack, and added on to your rogue levels this can be great. Oh and just to be a lame munchkin take combat reflexes and 1 level of shadow dancer for HiPS.

But then again what you really should do is scrub yourself raw to try and get rid of the elf cooties you now have for wanting to make an elfiewelfie.
