I like half-elves; that is, elves cut in half. J/k

I'm not a fan of the mainstream and dnd elves (better than you at everything, etc.).

I like the Melnibonean or fae version of elves: alien, amoral, and vaguely terrifying.

Dwarves just kick butt: they know the value of a work ethic, possess an unmatched tenacity, and could give a damn what you think. Aw yeah.

aye, an elf can use a blade and a spell at the same time, I give you that but a DWARF can take down a giant while drinking his ale an' not spillin' a drop!

Dwarves are not rude, flatulent, gluttons. Insinuation otherwise is uncalled-for. I'm sure that there is nothing wrong with elves either - not that I'd know from personal experience - but so say my forefathers whose words are law.

This debate is innane. Put a stop to it. Previous versions of the game we all love in appropriate moderation made elves out to be nearly divine. It's no wonder that they developed a following amongst the younger races. Now that the current rules more accurately depict dwarven greatness, dwarves have collected "bandwagon-jumpers." That doesn't change the nature of the children of the forge and it doesn't ameliorate the need to get work done.

Several of you are in time zones which indicate that you should be working and not goofing off- get to it!

Uhh, Saturday?

Oh, and DWARFS!!!

For the Dwarves, the women are almost as manly as the men (but not quite, what with that anatomy they're teaching these days). They even have beards and braided back-hair.

For the Elves... it's the other way round.

Elves, even female elves, have chest hair and they braid it?

Elves.

In my fantasy gaming career, I've all of two dwarves. I've played 10 or more elves. :)
I generally don't like any of the "short" races... well except maybe Kobolds.

How come there's no Dwelf choice?

Anyway, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool dwarf lover. Like elves, but for some reason those dwarves have always gotten to me.

As an aside, is it me, or of all the various race books that TSR puts out, does it seem like the dwarf-related ones are the best/most interesting/least broken? The Complete Book of Dwarves was excellent, Gaz6: Dwarves of Rockhome was very good (although Gaz5: Elves of Alfheim was pretty decent, too), Races of Stone, etc.
