Elf.

I, too, take isue with the way that elves have been portrayed in the various novels, particularly those friggin' Dragonlance books. Prior to them, I don't recall anything in the various texts that indicated that elves as a whole were arrogant dicks.

Grey elves may have been arses and Wood elves were somewhat isolationist, but that didn't matter for the longest time because you couldn't play one. Drow were just monsters and Aquatic elves were useless, so who cared what their attitude was?

Then along comes Dragonlance and everyone assumes that because DL elves are colossal jerks, that all elves are colossal jerks.

The High elf was a pretty mellow breed, venturing out into the wide world to see what they'd been missing back in their treetop forest citadels. And what happens? They take the brunt of the guff that Greys and Woods more rightly deserve. "Oh, youse elves is so arrogant" and "You obnoxious pushy elves think you're so hot" and "Go back to your forest before we burn it down, elf!", makes me just wanna say "Hastur Hastur Hastur" in frustration!

...oops...

Actually, the DL elves are the ONLY elves I like. Why? They are flawed and play a major part of their own current problems. Far more interesting than the nifty whizbang I got a sword AND sling spells in my oh so cool way elves.

So you say the flaw of other elves is that they're not flawed? You make them sound arrogant and don't call that a flaw?

FR-Elves also have themselves to blame for many of their current problems, even though the blame is millenia-old. They're only now making up for some of their old failures.

Anything dwarves can do, elves can do longer. ;)

And for the crowd, why go gnome when you can go...
