Elves ... I have loved them ever since reading Tolkien when I was 10. I have preferred playing them to any other race ever since. The description of the elves wandering under the starlight when they first awoke has remained in my memory to the present day as one of the most beautiful and memorable things I have ever read.

But I should add something to this. Yes - the elves were and remain my favorite. But the thing that touched me the most upon my first reading of the Lotr was the friendship between Legolas and Gimli.

If they're done well, dwarves and elves can be equally cool. In different ways, of course, so preference is a matter of taste.

That said, elves have been turned into various flavors of uncool more often and to greater depths than dwarves have.

Dwarves. Lawful good, drunk, violent racists. what's not to love?

still, elves are sexxxay
That is a reason I side with dwarves. They are rarely used as sex objects to sell books so I respect them more. While dwarves do have sex appeal to some people, dwarves are not as overused in fantasy “art” as elves are and thankfully never will be that overused.

Part of the problem is that the covers for Playdwarf and Playdwarfette are exactly the same. :p

BTW, Dwarves rule!!
