Hmmm....
"[An Emerald] ... doth both comfort and save, and being borne, it maketh a man to understand well, and giveth to him a good memory, augmenteth the riches of him that beareth it, & if any man shall hold it under his tongue, he shall prophecy anon."
The Book of Secrets of Albertus Magnus

Emerald Press, founded in 1993, is dedicated to republishing interesting books from the Medieval and Renaissance periods which have not been widely available to a modern audience. We have our own personal definition of interesting, including (among other things) popular fiction, plays, works on alchemy and other 'pseudo-sciences', and the medieval version of the True Crime genre.
We welcome commentary from our readers. Please let us know if there is anything you like (or dislike) about our selections, our editing, our layouts, etc. Are there any particular books that you'd like us to consider publishing? Did a typo slip through? Do you think that that weird sentence on page 42 really needed an explanatory note? Drop us a line, and let us know!

So, if Emerald Press (RPG company) did not get thier Business Liscense and register thier company name in time (but, it looks like RPG Emerald Press is out of Australia, so that may not matter) before Emerald Press (The publisher) then EP #2 wins.

Bleah.
Maybe they should talk between one another a bit.

The two companies are not in direct competition, although there is a close enough similarity in target audience that there might be a slim chance of confusion. Given that they don't have a very large overlap, however, there should be no problem.

Also, two companies that incorporate in different states can have the exact same name. I've seen it happen, and both are perfectly legal corporate entities.

I haven't looked at either of the Emerald Press' sites, so I don't know if there are any trademarks involved, but again, it's my understanding that if the target markets are sufficiently different, there are no problems.

I'm not a lawyer, but I do know paragraph two in this to be true.
