Empires of the Shining Sea on PDF from RPGNow.com

First Post
In a thread I started asking people about their favorite region in the FR (http://www.enworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=108896&page=1), a couple of people have mentioned the Empires of the Shining Sea boxed set.

I see it is available on RPGNow.com for approximately $5. I'm not worried about the price but I am interested to know whether the maps that were included in the box set have been scanned into the PDF version.

Anyone know about that? For $5, would it be worth it whether they were there or not?

Thanks,
Matt

Well, I don't know it, because I don't have it, but with a download size of 45.5 MB I'd suspect that some kind of map is included. This boxed set is generally considered one of the better ones :).

Even without knowing the set, I'd say it's most probably worth it. If you look at the free downloads of old FR material on the WotC page here, pick one thing or the other and decide whether the old flavour style is something for you or not, you will be able to make a more educated decision :).

I think it would be worth it, but I'm one who said that EotSS rocked (and it does) - though I do agree, the maps are very valuable (and far superior to the poor/limited/non-existent 3e FR maps).

I suggest going to the free product page that Turjan mentioned, above, and look specifically at Lands of Intrigue. EotSS is done in the same format. If the maps are in the WotC download, then you can very much bet that the maps will be in the EotSS $5 download.

As a side note, the companion book to EotSS - Calimport - is free at WotC, too.

I don't think you can go wrong for $5, even if the overland maps are missing.

This is basically what I am thinking...I will definitely take a look at the free downloads section of WOTC and do a check though.

I don't have this particular one but I have a lot of the ESDs of older products. Usually maps are included, they just break them down to consecutive one page sections.

Every Realms pdf I have has the maps included at the end broken into 8.5x11" sections.

I don't have that particular one but I am sure it is a safe bet that the maps are included.

I have been very happy with the pdf's that I have purchased from rpg now except my only teeny tiney complaint is that the text hasn't always scanned perfectly. The text looks just fine but if you use the text selection tool not all the text can always be cut and pasted from the pdf.
