EN World at Gen Con

Well, that was fun

If there is anything I've missed, please let me know. I've tried to summarise everything regarding EN World at Gen Con in this thread.

  • Twin Rose Software has very kindly donated some booth space at Gen Con to EN Publishing. This location, Booth #2045, has been designated as the unofficial EN World gathering point - you are welcome to use it to meet each other, leave messages for each other, or simply to hang out. We plan to have a noticeboard there where you can post notices, arrange EN World games, leave messages for each other and so forth. It's also the best place to get hold of me should you want to drop by and say hello! Here is a map of the exhibit hall - I have marked Booth #2045 down in the bottom left corner.

  • This year's Gen Con EN World D20 System Awards ceremony will be held at the White River Ballroom at the Indiana Convention Center on Friday July 25th at 9 pm. If you check this map of the convention center, you'll see the ballroom on the first floor, just NW of the stadium floor.

  • There will be a general "EN World Gathering" immediately after the ENnies. We haven't decided exactly what we'll be doing (staying in the White River Ballroom, going on to somewhere else etc.), but you are invited to come along.
  • RPGShop will be selling EN World t-shirts at Booth #1308 - there also be some for sale at the EN Publishing booth space. I'll be wearing one, and it'd be great to see other people wearing them (I get no money from them - it's just something that would be cool).

  • There is a party arranged for the Sunday in the bar of messageboard member "alsih20"; the bar, P.S. O'Rourke's, will be closed to the public (just mention EN World when you get there)- you'll find the details and maps here. Some publishers have "sponsored" the party with prizes and a few have indicated that they'll be coming along. Remember that you'll need to be 21 or over.

Morrus,
How much are the T's and what attire will it be for the Ennies, maybe costume?!:D Can you reserve shirts? Paladin and I definately want one, but we will hopefully be swamped. Maybe we can get someone from Hal's booth to run down there for us or something.;)

T-Shirt? It must be mine!!

Seriously though, how can they use the ENWorld image and not pay some sort of fee? (or is this a "chalk it up to advertising bit :) )

UPDATE:

Teflon Billy is a damn handsome man, and Clay is a man who needs his avatar changed.

Err, I mean --

We're having a blast. I'm headed over to do a little Spycraft GMing for the Moderators, and we just got back from a dinner where we had indepth discussions about who to ban next.

I'm having a blast. :D

Photos to follow in a separatre thread!

It's 2 am! Why am I posting?

Just got back from our game. As you can imagine, we had an absolute blast (Darkness & nemmerle, we missed you!). As PC said, we'll have photos to share later; but the ENworld community needs to know that your very own Eric Noah does one heck of a See Threepio imitation. :) And letting a complete newbie RPGer have a crowbar, SuperGlue, and a motorcycle can make for a very fun evening! :)

I have returned from Gencon. It is impressive, more than I had ever anticipated. I must say, however, that the moderators were too nice in person. I don't trust them... especially Piratecat who reminds me of a certain air force officer I once knew... And Dinkeldog who makes hand signals I can't interpret...

And also, when your 18 and walking the streets of a city with a bunch of hairy old men (and Eric Noah), be prepared for a lot of strange glares from bystanders. I'm not sure whether they were gauking at me, or them...

One thing to bring to the convention: Money...

Taflon Billy: Menace to HairStyles everywhere

Havnt seen Billy much round the traps lately. Glad to see he is still fighting the hairstyle fight :)

Creamsteak: Gamers in groups (There needs to be a cooler name for a collection of gamers.. murder is cool I think), tend to attract attention. Walking next to someone who talks about how much their character wants to kill townsfolk tends to invite the cringe and 'WHat the...' stares.

Anyone get involved with the Green Regent tables? Im so much into that game and when it becomes available locally Ill be there.

Anyway I hope those at Gencon are having a great time.

Matt,
surprisingly not lurking in #dnd3e.

But but but... the entire 'WORLD' was covered in gamers! You can't go 20 feet in Indianapolis right now without seeing someone who has a dicebag or card deck in their pockets... It's awesome!
