EN Worlders: Are You "Normal" Gamers?

I'm definitely the odd one out in my group. If I were to talk about narration rights, or GNS preferences or really most anything that makes for a thread here on Enworld(other than perhaps the filking threads), I'd get blank stares.

I'm the odd one out at the table. I'm not incredibly paranoid.

Give it time....

I saw a psychiatrist once.

She had herself committed the next day.

I'm not in here with you. You're in here with me.
Hahaha, you should do stand-up comedy together! :D

Yes. I mean "yes" gamer, "no" normal. Actually I have no idea what you're talking about. (bonus points for the movie reference)

And shouldn't you be asking the Planescape gamers? They're the weird ones after all....:p

I *know* I am odd, because I don't care much for combat or optimizing for it... ;) ;)

I'm the "traipsing through fairy rings" player detested by the 4E pre-sales material...

lol, my 4e group just spent 3 hours on non-combat to one hour of combat.

Granted, there were no fairy rings, but there was a unicorn.

*Disclamer* I'm not saying EN Worlders are less normal gamers or worse. I mean that there is a huge lack of tolerance around here and a guys gotta tip toe around himself just to not hurt someones feelings or whatever. Which is why I have never felt like "one of the guys" like I have on other forums. If being like that is what a "normal En Worlder" is, then I need to know.

Your question is a lot more complicated than you may have realized!

IME, this happens because the Enworld mods are much stricter than others I have experienced. It results in a much more formally civil site than I am used to, too. Consider yourself to be one of the guys whenever you tiptoe!

Seriously, I use many, many more times as many "ime, ymmv"s here than anywhere else!

Perhaps the real question is: "What is the standard deviation?"

Worrying about what the "normal" is, and how far you are from it, seems to me to be measuring for the sake of measuring. What's the point? We're all fringe-hobbyists, however you slice it.

The real question, that may have some practical value, is "How far from the normal can you be and still have a good time playing with more average gamers?"

I think the answer is, "pretty darned far."
