The Wars of EverDream

1. The Progenitor War

In the beginning there was Valkrath the Sublime, who knew and ruled the universe for millennia before the birth of the Dark Lord Volkath. The two Progenitors fought for countless eons, tearing the very fabric of the universe and creating planetoids. Upon their death the First Born Gods came into being, Shara and Nos and Selaniel. Little is really known about the war, except that there are other remnants of the Progenitors who live beyond ‘What Isn’t’.

2. The First Mortal War

In the wake of Endovior’s distribution of magic, some tribes on Prime I who embraced the new gift clashed with tribes who did not embrace magic and the have-nots were decimated by the haves.

3. The First God War, The First Ragnarok War

U-Do, the God of Balance, took offense to the decimation of the non magic users by the magic wielding tribes, and so he summoned forth a volcano to smite the magic users. Tocho, God of Conflict and Hunting, took offense to the arbitrary destruction of the victors, and so he declared war upon U-Do. He sent his Divine Wolves to hunt U-Do’s followers.

Moss, the God of Plants, took offense to all the animals messing up a perfectly good planet, and so he created See-oh-too, which is processed by plants and turned into breathable air, but is poisonous to animals. Some of the See-oh-too spilled into the portals of Endovior, and made its way to Endovior’s fortress. Endovior took what he deemed appropriate defensive measures to defend himself and his followers from the poison, and transmuted it into pure oxygen. The pure oxygen encompassed half of Prime I, and was ignited by the Volcano of U-Do.

Just as this conflagration began to erupt, Jo’Karr, God of Mortals and Inspiration, came into being to defend the mortals from the divine beings who were slaughtering them left and right. His first moments consisted of being smothered in flame. Jo’Karr’s warnings to the Gods to back off fell on deaf ears, as Moss and Endovior sent their followers to war with each other.

Jemal, God of the Undead, took offense to all the bickering, and destroyed Prime I, with Jo’Karr still on it.

4. The First True-God War

Jo’Karr built a great Ziggurat in the sky of Prime II, in order to spread inspiration to all mortal races. His created race, the Angels, kept order and passed on instruction to the others. Tocho took offense to the Angels, and initiated a human uprising in the Ziggurat. When the rebellion was suppressed, Tocho himself bound the beast Failure and attacked the Ziggurat. The Angels fled from the two gods, and Jo’Karr and Tocho battled until the Ziggurat and Failure were destroyed. Jo’Karr called upon Jemal, who came to his aid. Endovior unleashed the Sphere’s of Annihilation, which wounded Jo’Karr but were evaded by Jemal and Tocho. The resulting explosions reversed the orbital direction of Prime II around the sun, and brought Prime III and IV into mutual orbit as they both orbited the sun. Jo’Karr retreated to his hidden Forge in the asteroid field of Prime I.

5. The Titan War

More of a singular dispute between Jo’Karr and Albedo, this conflict came about when the Titan Albedo took offense to the angels, and killed one. He was presented with the Bow of Jo’Karr by Tocho, and using the bow’s power, created the first Demon. Eventually, Albedo was humbled by Alexandra, and dragged away in chains by Jo’Karr.

6. The Second Ragnarok War, The Great Demon War, The Angelic Civil-War

When a group of mortal Archmagi created a portal system to every mage clan on the Material Plane, some of the mages were corrupted by Demons and the Demon horde was set loose upon the worlds of Prime. Led by the fallen archangel Usuegi, known as ‘The Fiend’, the Demons ransacked Prime III, but met staunch resistance at Prime IV. They also attacked the Forge of Jo’Karr repeatedly, incurring the wrath of several Gods.

In this war we saw the rise and fall of several true heroes. Tensok the Hunter, born of a Celestial Wolf of Tocho and a mortal, fought Usuegi alongside the King of the Aelves on Prime III. He was sent to Hell along with many Angels who had come to reinforce the Aelves. The Great King of the Aelves became a half-Demon/half-Undead horror and began to turn Angels and Aelves and Demons into Undead.

One of the most climactic moments in the war involved the fall of Jo’Karr, who destroyed Usuegi, The Great King, millions of Demons, and rescued many of his Angels from Hell. He used up so much energy, especially when fighting Usuegi, that he became a Titan instead of a God. Since Inspiration was a mandated necessity of the universe, Alexandra took up the mantle of Goddess of Inspirtation.

A number of divine interventions created factions within the Demon ranks, which proceeded to slaughter each other. Then the Undead had to be taken into consideration. Finally, in the depths of Hell, the great Tensok with an army of Watchers freed the God Jemal from divinely forged chains, created by U-Do. Jemal created the Reavers, a force of anti-Demons to fight the monsters out of Hell. The Demons forged their own plane of existence, the Abyss, and fled there.

The corruption of the Portal System created the Cyst, an amorphous being of energy which hungered for living beings. It was unleashed by a mass invasion of corrupted Archmagi onto Prime III. The Cyst and a monster called Michael decimated both the Archmagi and the allied mortal armies of Angels, Aelves, and Humans. With both armies gone, the Cyst trapped in the portals, and Michael driven off, the Great Demon War finally came to an end.

7. The Second Demon War

In the wake of the Great Demon War, the God Tocho touched on ‘What Isn’t’, but could not handle it. His mind snapped and he became the insane Tocarus, God of Suffering and Strife. He marshaled the Demons in the Abyss, and launched an invasion of the Underworld, called the Glistening Path by its creator and steward, Traume, God of Death. Traume called out to his allies and to the Titans on the Material Plane, and Jo’Karr and Tensok responded. They fought their way into the underworld, where they joined Traume in an assault upon the Abyss. Jo’Karr and Tensok, using several powerful divine artifacts, capitalized on the destructive power of Traume and destroyed the Abyss. Traume then healed Tocarus’ mind as best he could, and Tocarus re-forged the Abyss and made a divine pact with Traume.

8. The Terrible Tribble War

Endovior, in an attempt to check the abuse of divine power, created the Devourers. These little balls of light are harmless, but drain divine magic. To a god, they are as annoying mosquitoes, but to the Angels, who use divine magic as an integral component of much of their technology, they were a hated enemy. They were first encountered by a child, and so given their common name, Tribbles. The Tribbles left much of the celestial planes bereft of power, creating rolling blackouts across celestial metropolis and forcing advanced flying fortresses to crash. Thus, the hardened legions of heaven were brought to their knees by little balls of light. A massive extermination campaign was launched, but to no avail. Eventually, after weeks of fighting, Shara turned the Tribbles in heaven into her servants, who no longer harassed the Angels.

9. The Shadow War

The Dark Lord Umbryn, God of Shadows and Assassins, sent stealthy assassins into the world each night to steal souls. Followers of Traume, with advanced martial arts, opposed them. To be Continued…
