Encouraging folks to do more reviews

Then again, you can comment on any review you want. I've seen people use those to mention things they liked or didn't like.

Is there a part of the forum where all of the review comments are listed? I think that would make comments and discussion following a review much easier for everyone.

Comments are listed at the bottom of the review.

The problem I have with sending out comps is that it's reached the point where I have to send 5 comps to get 1 review. Many people that request to review something never write the review.

I owe you one. I apologize for the delay. Dam overtime. :(

That's a definate problem. Perhaps what the publishers need is a way to rate reviewers based on reliability. That way you can feel a bit more comfortably sending a product off to be reviewed.

I'm working on two reviews right now for books that I recieved comp copies of yesterday, and though it is time consuming, I couldn't see why it would take me more than a week for each book. That gives me time to read through each a couple of times and really think about what I like/dislike, and write up a thousand words or so. Depending on my real job, maybe less time.

The point is, I would like to think that people could rely on me, and in the buisiness world I stake my reputation on that every day. I'd like to think that this sort of thing would be rewarded online the way it is in the real world. Perhaps a way to track when comp sopies are sent out, and how long the turn around is before a review is written, then the publishers could just ask people with a good record to do reviews for them, and reviewers wouldn't take on more than they could handle for fear of slowing down their turn-around time.

That would be a cool idea.

I agree with the rating reliability idea. I can see why folks like Phil get frustrated if they are sending product off and then never seeing it get reviewed. The rating system might be a nice way for publishers/authors to see who is reliable in turning in a review. Those people of course get to do more reviews and manage to get some free product to review. Winners on both sides.

Trust me, I wasn't even thinking of you. I have a few people that e-mail me for a review copy each time I publish a new PDF -- I've stopped sending them review copies.
