Will said:Oh, and regarding Fast Movement and such... Unearthed Arcana has a lot of ideas for customizing classes. I suspect one could make a 'fast fighter' by giving him barbarian-style fast movement instead of one of the bonus feats. Roughly speaking, a 'special ability' is worth about as much as a bonus feat, so you could also give him evasion at 4th, etc.
UA really helps provide ideas for remaking the classes, which appeals to me. And avoids some of the issues people have brought up about multi-classing.
Thanks for the pointer on that - I may mention UA to my Midnight DM. My female Fighter PC has been described by other players as being like a "Paladin-Barbarian" in mindset - she's a LG wilderness-dwelling outlaw in a world ruled by evil, propelled by honour and hatred of the enemy, and an uge to protect her 'flock' (the other PCs) from harm. Some paladin abilities like being resistant to mind magic would make sense for her, as would barbarian abilities like fast movement, but the consensus is that Rage would be inappropriate - she's far too Lawful and self-disciplined, even when screaming threats at the enemy. I was glad that at least 3.5 gave Fighters Intimidate as a class skill!
