Energy Ressistance??

A Question to Energy Resistance:
The DMG only says that energy resistance doesn not stack with protection granted by spells, but what if you play a Tiefling and take the Elemental Savant prestige class...does the natural fire resistance stack with the fire resistance you get from advancing as Fire Savant?

I think there must be an exeption to the general rule with creatures that possess natural resistance already.
Taking the Elemental Savant prestige class is something that "enhances" you towards the choosen elemt...it makes you drop lots of good spells to bring you nearer to "elemental perfection"
Normaly I'm fully behind the rule that similar bonuses shouldn't stack, but these cases are often in conjunction with items or spells.
This case is slightly different I guess??
The problem here is that there is no duration or something like that. Its natural resistance twice.
The first one is from birth through demonic blood. The second one is an extra ordinary (Ex)trait that accompanies the transformation to a fire savant.
That means it's not truly magical but much more a physical enhancement that grows on top of whatever creature gains it?? Does this sound logical? ;o)

Can anyone help? Or does anyone know the email adress where I can send this question to the game designers?
thx

I don't believe so. DR doesn't stack. Neither does SR. I'm sure there are more examples but those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Whoops. Forgot. Here are the email addresses for The Sage and WotC Customer Service. I don't recommend the later. :)

thats what I thought first too. But reading through other prestige classes that make even SR stack made me wonder if there are more such "exeptions"
And this one would be quite logical.

Which prestige classes let SR stack? I'm not being pesky, just curious. :)

Yep exactly.
You see there is no real reason why other things shouldnt stack then. And I'm 100% sure that the designer of the Elemental Savant class didn't think of Tieflings using the prestige class.
Fire Genasi? That would be fitting ;o)

In those examples you'll notice that is specifically says they stack. So, that is the key. If it doesn't say they atack, they don't stack.

Of course feel free to bribe the DM to get him to rule 0 it :D

I'm pretty sure Fire Gensasi don't have Fire Resistance, although I do think I would let them stack even if by the rules they technically don't.
