Cool to know, thanks!Morrus turned it over to Stacy Muth in 2018 so he could focus on publishing with no conflict of interest IIRC. ENWorld hasn't had any affiliation since then. There is a core group of 4 volunteers who run it year-round with more people who help during Gen Con. Plus the yearly panel of judges, of course.

While I appreciate Rodrigo's kind characterisation of my decision, it wasn't entirely a selfless act--frankly I got tired of being yelled at every year and told how stupid, incompetent, or corrupt we were (sometimes, disappointingly, from professional peers with whom I thought there was mutual respect), and one year it reached a point where I asked myself why I was doing this; I got nothing out of it and I'd put 18 years in, which I felt was enough, and it was not exactly contributing positively to my mental health. The folks that continue to work on the awards have my admiration and respect because it is not an easy job, it pays nothing, is largely thankless, and they get attacked from all sides. They're a good bunch, and the ENnies bring something positive into an increasingly tough environment. For me, it was always about giving the creators recognition--the artists and writers and editors, etc. The companies get recognition in the form of dollars when they sell the books the creators make; this was always a little way to just say 'thank you, you did a good job' to those who worked on the games we love. That really made it worthwhile for a long time.I did not know that. Obviously, good on Morrus for recognizing the potential for a conflict of interest and taking action, and thank you to the volunteers who help make it continue to happen!
Maybe they should give you a lifetime achievement award or a Hall of Fame nod or something.Though I'm slightly sad that I can never win one ...
Some things never change. Frankly, were it not for the happy people posting the day the noms are announced and right after the ceremony, I'd have gotten 'dis-involved' a long time ago.-frankly I got tired of being yelled at every year and told how stupid, incompetent, or corrupt we were (sometimes, disappointingly, from professional peers with whom I thought there was mutual respect)

Thanks! It can be fun and rewarding, or we wouldn't still do it.Since you probably don't hear it enough, thank you so much for putting the work in.
Without people like you putting in the hard and thankless work, we (as a society) wouldn't have all the nice things that we take for granted.
