I wondered that myself actually.

I didn't run this year because I didn't want to. I'll let someone else agonize over choosing which is better than the rest. Maybe others felt the same.

Maybe Master of the Game's blog scared 'em all :)

I'll tell you what, it made me really think about this before committing to it. It also gave me a lot of ideas as far as what I wanted to do to make my prospective judgeship and process really open, transparent, and public. The guy's awesome, what can you say? :D

(And maybe I got a little skeered. :p )

I'm not entirely sure, either. It may be that Gencon is distracting people -- or it may be that some folks were worried by the quantity of reading. Master of the Game's blog exposed that more than in past years.

Changing situations. C.W. Richeson has mentioned he'll be taking the bar exam this coming year, so he's probably got enough reading to keep him busy. For me, I figured WotC paying for me to attend GenCon, and the possibility of a seat on the Gleemax advisory board, probably DQ'd me on the "no ties to a publisher" rule. And even if that didn't do it, I'm going to look at getting published this year.

But, dang, I wish I was running now with only 10 competitors, instead of the 18 in February.

I'd imagine! That's too bad, though. He's really impressed me.

And I hope I meet you at GenCon; how cool is the free trip?!

I was hoping to get something published too this year which is why I didn't nominate. That, and the fact that I am expecting my first child to be born sometime in September. I figured that might take up a small amount of my time over the next say......lifetime! :D

Even still, with only 10 nominees, I kind of wish I nominated. :\

He seems like a great guy- very prolific reviewer (and one of the reasons I've started reviewing), and a very positive poster in every thread I've seen him in.

I plan to be at the ENnies, and I should have one of Xath's name badges, so you should be able to pick me out of crowd. After having read some of the people here since Eric Noah's board, I'm excited about getting to meet the crowd.

And the free trip is very cool. After I didn't get picked as a judge, I'd resigned myself to reading about GenCon. The chance for the trip is one of the reasons I got into the UGT in the first place; now I'm interested in getting on the board, but I already feel like a winner.
