As a sculptor of fantasy miniatures I would like to see an ENnie for miniatures.

Is there any other interest? Who would be responsible for considering the addition of this category?

I would think the following categories would be worth condidering:

Best unpainted individual human sized figure, pewter, resin, or plastic
Best prepainted .....

Best unpainted faction or unit
Best prepainted....

Best unpainted creature
Best prepainted ....

Best unpainted scenery or miniature accessory
Best prepainted scenery .....

Best encounter (figures, accessories, scenario, and stats)

Best cut out paper or cardstock 3d scenery

Best 2d tile, counter, or battlemat

Best paint for miniatures

Best carry case or miniatures display accessory

Best miniatures printed supplement or rules

Any thoughts or comments?

What they said. While Gen Con is the sponsor of the awards, they don't want to overlap Origins too much with non-RPG specific stuff. Even if Gen Con were to stop sponsoring them, though, I wouldn't be inclined to expand beyond RPGs. They're nicely focused right now.

Seems to me that if the BattleBox from FD could be considered, along with the SteelSqwire templates, surely miniatures should be included in the same category.

Well, to a certain extent some miniature-esque products (I'm thinking specifically of Magnificent Egos's cool spell representations, like their helping hand spell effect) are considered under the "Accessories" category.

Technically, one could consider all miniatures to fall under the "Accessories" category. And personally, I think Magnificent Egos' spell effects are some of the coolest things since sliced bread. ;)

To make it work, within the restrictions of the GenCon deal, would be to make a new category of minis that HAVE to be RPG-related - thus not allowing clix minis, D&D minis, and minis designed for wargames.

(did I mention my wife and I have been brainstorming this since Origins?)

Hey, my copy of "Legend of the Overfiend" is a gaming accessory. It provides all sorts of source material about tentacles, and searing plasma discharges, and elder monsters spawned by the intense electromagnetic force of Japanese sexual tension.

If only we could harness that power. . . .

We obviously shouldn't go into card games like Magic, or video games, or even fiction, as much as I like it. But I don't think any single mini would ever be able to win as 'best accessory.' You just either use none of them, or need tons of them. A mini-assortment box, though, with dozens of minis, and stats for those minis, and a battle map with different terrain and stuff . . . that might be feasible, right?
