[ENnies] Important ENnies Dates

I'm sure it has its downs, and I don't doubt it is a lot of effort, but I wouldn't consider it work, as reading and playing supplements of any game is what I do anyway for fun!

You'll consider it work once you do it. :D I read and play a lot of games too. The big change with being a Judge is you'll be reading through many books that you might normally not want to read. We all play and stick to certain genres and games for the most part. For fun you might love reading all the fantasy books but might not care for a science fiction one for instance. Or maybe you like the rules light narrative games but not the heavy rules gamey games or vice versa.

For instance I am not a fan of anime. I don't hate it but I have seen very little of it and I just don't have the time to really dive into and familiarize myself with the genre. So each year when we get games based on anime license or style it is a lot more like work for me to get the purpose of the games. Everyone has something like that, no one is an expert on everything. :D

In any case, as someone who spends most of the day, almost every day, reading up on roleplaying (and likes it so much he scrapped a 100 page dissertation to switch to writing on RPG use for clinical psychology) this sounds like a great time!

You'd probably be good at it. I'd suggest that you write a number of game reviews between now and when elections happen in July; that'll help differentiate you from other candidates and give people a good feel for how your evaluation process works.

That's funny, especially because I have made my own sausages!

(The trick is to not put gross things into it and to use synthetic casings instead of intestines, which are kinda gross in my mind).

You should also check out the Judges page on the ENnies site. Each judge has a questionairre that will give you an idea on what the fans are looking for in a judge.

The ENnie Awards -- Judges

Thanks for the info, guys!

I'll definitely give it some careful consideration before putting my name out there for voting.

Also, excellent points about reading genres/systems I'm not as fond of/wouldn't ordinarily read and getting some reviews under my belt as a way to present myself to potential voters.

I'll check out that link on the judges.

Thanks again.
