[ENnies] New Revisions = New Products?

There is a big step being being elgible and being nominated though. Another thing that has to be looked at is in the pdf realm.

This came up in one product that was being considered this year. It was a pdf last year and had a print version submitted this year. There were additions and alterations (new classes, etc.) in it, so we decided to admit it.

I doubt this year's judges would have admitted mere 3.5 updates, though, if it was considered in a previous year. There might be some wiggle room if it was never submitted, but I am only guessing there.

I'm strongly against that. Movies don't get nominated in the Oscars three times (once for initial release, then again in the following year for the VHS version, and then again for the DVD version), and neither should RPG products.

I don't think there are oscars for best VHS or Best DVD period though.

Isn't there a separate pdf category that newly pdf released old material would qualify as?

So is there an official word on this regarding 3.5 Revisions?

Do the New WotC Core books constitute new products and are thereby eligible to compete for the 2004 ENnies? Or are they not?

Does an updated campaign setting revamped for 3.5 rules constitute a new product, or is it merely a conversion and therefore ineligible?

Will there be a guideline regarding how much new material must be added to a product to determine its eligibility?

Um, I"m updating my old products for 3.5 and for JBoE I'm adding like 20+ pages and changing the name (as mentioned on my website two weeks ago). Is that a new product? I thinkk so. But I'm also hoping to have something else out that's fresher to nominate. But I would still think that a radically different page count could result in it being considered "new".

...and I suppose a revised product with entirely new artwork, even if the text material was no more than simply updated to the revised rules, might be fair to consider for one of the art or cartography categories. Perhaps?

Which brings to mind another question...

Does artwork have to be entirely new and generated specifically for a product (even if purchased through freelancers) to qualify? Could someone, for instance, purchase a ton of used artwork (maybe if it had never appeared in an RPG or game product previously) and enter such a product in one of the artwork categories?

But software gets reviewed every release qualifying it as different product. Personally, I don't think 3.5 updates should be allowed as nominations though.

I'd think it depends on the update. The core books themselves probably should be eligible, as should an update with a lot of new material (maybe the new Psi Handbook). On the other hand, if the only updates are bringing the mechanics of an older product in line with 3.5 and correcting typos (say, by reprinting an adventure), I'd argue that it shouldn't be eligible.
