I am curious to know if there is a way to delete products from our virtual bookshelf?

There isn't no. Might add something like that in future when/if we have time, but that's the last thing we imagined people would want to do and we have a LOT of stuff to code first!

Publishers have the ability to send you a product to put on your bookshelf. If it's something you already have, or which you obtained through other means (bought somewhere else, sent as a review copy, etc.), the publisher might be willing to do that for you. That'd be between you and the publisher, though.

Is there any way to hide the information to the left, below the username? (Latest Book etc). The forum feels a bit too "airy", especially on laptops and other computers with a low screen resolution.

Even at 1280x1024 resolution a one-line comment can take up half the screen. That's excessive and it interferes with the main purpose of the page (i.e. reading the actual comments).
