Heh. Admittedly, I've never heard of any such thing. But if anyone was going to build one, it sure as heck would be the Klingons, wouldn't it?

The episode bothered me becuase on one point in particular.

The Klingon ship was in trouble because of the poison right? Well how did they get poisoned?

Yep they got poisoned by attacking someone and stealing from them. Odds are they killed a few people in the process of the raid. Since the target of the raid was so weak their only defense was using a poison to take out the Klingons.

Yet at no point even when Archer finds out how they get poisoned does he think it is a bad idea to save all of the Klingons.

Enterprise is not the place to go if you want morality tales. "Well, let's see. Last week we doomed an alien species to death so their genetically superior neighbors would take over their planet, so, to balance things out, let's rescue some ruthless, murderous space pirates today. Whaddya think, guys?"

I think they should focus more on interstellar mystique and adventure. That last episode with those mysterious aliens that attacked the Enterprise without ever communicating with them was cool.

As for continuity, well, that was all thrown out the window in the first episode (and repeatedly thereafter).

And, yes, A2Z, that Klingon woman was gorgeous! However, I thought there were no women on Klingon military ships- oh, wait, no continuity...I remember now...

The "poison" was in the alcohol. Doc found that out by doing the tests. It was a toxin that attacked the nervous systems which knocked them out. Cold temperatures slowed down the toxin which was why the female Klingon wasn't unconcious.

Another interesting episode filled with choices that have consequences both immediate and far-reaching.

Continuing to develop the characters and their relationships with one another.

It's good to see that they're making a distinction between spoken language and written language

I'm enjoying the fact that they are becoming involved in what is the expansion of knowledge for the Vulcans. It speaks to a failing, almost a timidity, of the Vulcans in their own expansion. It promotes the idea that Humans, although less technologically advanced, still have something worthwhile to offer to joint ventures.

Canon means nothing since facts from previous episodes/movies are not written from the perspective of omniscience. Considering how often time travel was used, from TOS onward, canon is not something that can be used to discredit any storyline or plot. It goes directly against canon, to question anything new based on canon since canon also states that multiple timelines exist and any time travel experience can disrupt or change things in ways that are unpredictable. It can only be used as a thin device to veil someone's non-acceptance of anything new "meta-wise" or within the fiction that continues to be created. Anyone who cites canon immediately invalidates their response by ignoring that canon states that there is nothing that is out of bounds to change in regard to canon. Canon is a non-issue.

I agree CM on the cannon issue. Well put.

I also think they've done a very good job of not treading on what has gone before. Its actually kind of cool to see the 'beginning" of things. Last week's mentioning of the Ferengi, yet nobody having heard of them was one example.

As to the issue of klingon women being on warships, you are wrong. They are frequently on warships, from The Search for Spock to Deep Space Nine.

The characters continue to be developing very well, and I really like all of them. They are each distinct and interesting. The only one not so developed yet seems to be the helmsman (forgot his name).

Merriweather, I believe. They've gone into his family business of being a "space trader" and mentioned it, somewhat, in that episode with the traders who captured the Nosican, but not much else, I guess. I'll bet they'll use him more extensively for something before this year's over.

1 hour and 15 minutes till Oklahoma rerun

This was the most sureal storm I have ever seen. It realy wasn't very cold, only 31 degrees. And only things above ground froze, the roads were clear of ice. Wednesday night I stood on my porch and listened to the ice rustle in the wind. If it cracked, the ice would fall, if you heard a bang here comes the whole tree. There was a crash every two to five minutes in my neighborhood all around me.
