[Entertainment, advertising, free stuff!] Beat the Arsenal Challenge!

(Update: The contest is already filled, but if someone wants to write a review of Whips, I'd be grateful, regardless of the score. I honestly want to know what people think.)

Up Your Arsenal
Beat the Arsenal Challenge and Win a Copy of E.N. Arsenal - Whips

On December 1st, E.N. Publishing released the second in the E.N. Arsenal line of pdf books, E.N. Arsenal - Whips. We want to give ENWorlders a chance to have some fun in our advertising campaign, so we're offering a contest.

If you compete against one of the sample NPCs from E.N. Arsenal - Whips in a play-by-post duel, you'll win a free copy of the book. If you win, you'll get a copy of Whips and Spiked Chains.

Rules:
If you want to participate in this contest, please make sure you have regular access to EN World between now and December 9th. The battle will be play-by-post, preferably with a quick pace. Up to three players will be allowed to have their own duel with our contender, so if you're interested, post soon.

To be eligible, post your interest in this thread, then have a statted-out character ready by Saturday. This is intended to be a warrior's duel, so no spellcasters please. Barbarians, fighters, monks, paladins, rangers, and rogues are welcome. Create a 10th level character using only core rules, with 49,000gp worth of gear. No one-shot items like potions, poison, or beads of force are allowed.

Judging will be by a third party, and witty repartee between the duelists is encouraged. As of right now, we don't have maps to use, so the default setting will be a relatively thick forest, to provide for some cover. If anyone has a nice forest battle map to donate, it would be greatly appreciated. If you'd like to suggest a different terrain, we're cool with anything other than boring open fields.

And now, to introduce your competitor:

Quillathe Nailo
Female Elf fighter 4/ranger 2/Nailo-Shalanth 4.

I'd like to play cuz I want to win this for the player in my group who wants an Indiana Jones type for his next character.

By "core" rules, you mean PHB, DMG, and MM only? Does this inclue DMG prestige classes?

Is there any way to get a clue as to what a Nailo-Shalanth does at all? besides use a whip? :D

Are you just accepting the first 3 people who post interest? Or will you be judging our character builds? I am almost always available, although Saturday I will be gaming with a group and not be at my house during mid-day.

I would also like to see a good sample of play-by-post combat if anyone has any suggestions.

DMG prestige classes are fine (try not to use Shadowdancer, though, because it's just a pain to adjudicate online).

The Nailo-Shalanth is a whip-dueling class, a specific school of dueling. It gets sub-optimal attack bonus and hit points in exchange for a bonus combat feat each level that apply to whips only. They have a special whip striking technique that is nearly silent.

The first three who post interest will probably get in. If someone else is interested, post too, and if somebody drops out we can work you in.

Sure, I will give it a try if possible. :) Probably using a monk character. Where should I post the character once he is ready? Also, is this competition using 3.5E or 3E rules?

I don't know why this thread isn't generating more interest. Doesn't everyone love Indiana Jones and cool whip tricks?

Ok, I'm going to create a PC from the 3 books. Is it ok to use one of the LA races from the Monster Manual? Cuz I dont know if that counts as a core PC race or not.

And before I go all out, I'm TRYING to build this thing to BEAT the whip-fighter right? So I don't have to worry about someone taking off points for using Charisma as a dump stat, or only taking combat related skills?

Tomorrow afternoon, I'll check for responses and finish my character, where/how do you want me to post it?

3.5. Post characters here when you've got 'em.

Feel free to go munchkin, aye. LA races are fine, but again, try to keep in the spirit of the fight and stick to more melee-oriented warriors, with not too many magic tricks.

Alrighty! :)

How about hit points? Should we just take an average?

Indeed! I love all 'flexible weapons' such as chains, whips, nets, etc. :)
