ENWorld can help the people of Haiti!

Donation made.

It's kind of amazing how many of the products that I had interest in I already have. Man, I have a lot of PDFs! Even so, there's some stuff there that I've been interested in - Chronica Feudalis, Trail of Cthulhu Player's Guide, Full Light Full Steam, and more.

As of now, the donation total is just $50 shy of $64,000.

I am truly humbled at the generosity of the gaming community.

The totals Penny Arcade generate every year via Child's Play are stupendous. I think they broke $1.5M last year -- all donated by fans of the comic, who I'd guess are almost entirely gamers (though mostly the computer or console type).

I went and bought the $20 PDF bundle/donation. Honestly, there are so many PDF's as part of that bundle that most people, if not all of them, should get more than $20 value out of it.

Personally just the World Works Games and Fat Dragon Games stuff made it vaule for money for me. There's also the Serenity RPG and Castlemourn Campaign Setting available (amongst a whole heap of other stuff).

Yeah, let him cry all he wants. He put up two nice products, the two Savage World products, but I seriously doubt he makes a living off of his PDF sales anyways, and it is in seriously poor taste to post what he did, as he even seems to acknowledge, but did it anyways.

As a point of comparison, Tucson, AZ was bragging about raising $41,000 for Haiti, so the RPG community did better than the 25th biggest city in the US. By a lot!

Well, to be honest, I personally dislike any "let's donate to X by having a big sale of Y and all of our profits go there". It is in the best interests of the victims to support established charities by donating directly, rather than promotions that "give you something", as there are likely hidden costs from these promotions. Even if the intentions are good, there is always an undercurrent or subtext of exploitation.

And I think in this case RPG publishers are hurt a lot more by missing income than people like the class of celebrities--if I asked you to donate your entire salaries to Haiti for two weeks--how many could afford it. If you read the entire thread, there are good points made.

Plus, "virtue (or sacrifice) is its own reward", as some might say. I would be much more impressed if the gamers/fans would give up purchasing any gaming products and donate, rather than things like suggesting WoTC should reverse their no PDF policy. There's a slight level of selfishness in those types of requests.
