How does banning work?



Not that I'm going to do anything to get me banned!

Is it by IP, user name(kinda useless I can just go create another one)? domain? I'm curious as to how effective it actually is.

Did you see the link to the article on ABC News about animals being allowed on flights for "emotional support?" Here are some choice quotes:

vBulletin allows IP, e-mail, and username banning. Of course nothing's foolproof, but add to that the fact that we log IP addresses, can see a list of the most recently added users, and are patient, it's fairly effective. We haven't had to ban many users, though, so perhaps we'll get a more tenacious one at some point.
