Epic alarm systems?

How do merchants even epic merchants protect against epic rogues?
For example i've got a 25th level rogue who regularly rolls 40+ on any of her thieving skill rolls. she also stocks up quite nicely on usefull scrolls and teleportation devices in case things don't go her way.

Has anybody come up with some defences against the epic rogue? Traps would be a joke. I can imagine a wizard coming up with some original magical defences but what about the fighter turned merchant?

Any ideas?

An Epic Rogue shouldn't be stealing from merchants, an Epic Rogue should be stealing into the treasure troves of ancient dragons, or into the halls of the gods themselves. They should be robbing the Elminster's, Asmodeus', and Vecna's of the world. Baba Yaga's Hut, and the Towers of High Magic should be the places an Epic level Rogue is looking to hit.

An Epic Rogue should be facing Epic challenges. Whoever heard of an Epic Merchant? The point of an Epic character is that, quite simply, there's nothing 99.999% of the world can do to stop them. Any trap or lock that would stop an Epic level Rogue would have to be magical in nature, and potent magic at that.

For the fighter I guess he could take 'Followers' feat and get a friendly young dragon to nest on/in the vault, provided its lawful and he/she keeps his word to the follower I could see it working to the betterment of both.
Its pretty hard to sneak past blindsight, plus any magical items the dragon may have equiped, maybe not 100% effective but its about as good as you can get.

Ledgends and Lairs made a couple of beautiful books detailing traps I'd highly recommed to any GM, up the DC and cost of the existing ones in books to exceed the skills of the rogues youre trying to keep out.
Yes, this may require someone to think, sorry if that hurts but hey you cant have it on a platter all the time ;)

Agreed...Epic characters and campaigns require a completely different mindset. If you're still doing the things you did when you were a 1st level schlub, then you're doing it wrong.
