Epic NPCs in your gameworld?

S'mon

Legend
I've been looking at updating my world, Ea's notes to 3e, and have been going through the ringbinders looking for Epic NPCs.

After converting levels as per
standard rules, the following non-deity characters are Epic, also
Vantor who as a hero-deity is actually an Outsider now, but included
for reference.

THRINIAN:
Lord Vantor F32/C3
Valator Ironfist F4/C18
Karzalin Wiz 30
Arkhelt C21
Rygar Whitewolf C21
Clarendon Rgr3/Cjr20

Chaos & Wastes:
Jorak Fellblade F22
Midgard Linnorm hd 25
Mardek F5/Wiz16

Doomstar Wiz 519

Albine:
ex-Emperor Sharvak F24
Archmagus-Chancellor Vimasu Wiz 21
Termagan, ex Archpriest of Anu C22

Mongali:
Baba Yaga Sorc 28
Omazad Sorc 25
Kadai Khan F21

Marradin of the Red Wizards Wiz 28
High Prince Zein't Ursaruk, drow C10/Wiz 11

Total 18, including Vantor, from a global population approx 35
million. There might be a very few more, eg the Kopru Emperor.

Does your world have Epic NPCs? One or two, a dozen or so, or as many as you need to fight the PCs?

Was Doomstar a mispring or is he actually 519 level wizard?

Epic NPCs

I have the Circle of 9. 9 epic wizards of various degress, races, and specialities. Current membership is unknown (undefined).

Caspian, Sila, Cronus, and Methos: 4 Avelar (my version of the Grey Elves) who spent 3000 years trapped in part of my world that serves as Tarturus liked and was ruled by the evil god's minions.

Then there are a few others (maybe a dozen) who are epic level. One is a rogue in control of the largest thieves guild in the world. Another is a Sorcer/Wizard/Barbarian who is the protector of the barbarian lands. One is the High Mage of a magical land.

We've had 4 campaigns in this world so far, so lots of room for epic characters.

Interesting - I think low-double figures is the most most game worlds can sustain (Mystara would have more). Doomstar really is lvl 519, yup - albeit created under 1st edition rules. He's an Eldren mutant from 3 million years in the past. He should be statted out for 3e in Upper_Krust's forthcoming 'Immortals Handbook: The Worshipper Points System".

Some Epic NPC's in my campaign

Trying to stay out of politics but comes when the country needs them. They fallow the laws and work for the betterment of the people of Dramore. Thus they are mostly lawful good. If any problems arise they ask Puck Elvera for advice and help. If he cant get the answer him self then he’ll go the ask help from the other guilds in the area.

What do you think.

Well, although not all of them are statted at all, I have:

Emperor Prayzose (missing, presumed dead)- cleric/psion (telepath). I haven't yet converted him but I suspect he'll be around level 17/7 or thereabouts.
Dzaram the Lich (head of a major group of pc villainous wizard types; the players, alas, live far from me and never get to play)- wiz 35
Heleshnatic- human wizard 5/air elemental savant 20
Warlord Rekkigaz (orcish fighter 24)
Estelias (grey elven enchantress 21/sorceress 1)
Oberon, King of the Faeries (Ketzisti elf, a custom race; sorc 12/bard 15/aristocrat 20)
Zsadly the Sadist- an ethros wizard 36 (an ethros is sort of like a mercane in appearance, but they tend to _all_ be epic level; Standard level characters are mere "striplings" to them. How long does it take for an ethros to die of old age? Nobody knows. How old is Zsadly? Not quite as old as Ferax.)

There are a few more out there who have never come up except in some vague, shadowy way in my head, such as:

The halfling spymaster of the Glen Lands, who is the only thing stopping their tiny shires from being overwhelmed by the orcish mass ruled by Warlord Rekkigaz; prolly about 24th level overall, mostly spymaster with some rogue and maybe a level or two of bard, sorcerer or somesuch
A handful of Forinthian generals (epic level fighter types; prolly two or three above 20th level out there somewhere)
The Great Druid (druid around 30th)
The Grandfather of Assassins ("Grey Grandfather"- at least 50 assassin levels, god knows what else)
Ferax' high priest (dragons are gods in my game, Ferax is a million year old red dragon who is BAD TO THE BONE. His high priest is a dragonpriest (prc from my campaign) of at least 20th level plus whatever he was first (I'm thinking 8th ranger maybe?)

And of course there are more out there, too, that stay far removed. My campaign world is huge, so there's room for them.

Hi Simon mate! :)

Doomstars Levels should be split between his Wizard abilities and his immense Psionic Talent.

I know you don't have the Psi Handbook though but what percentage of split do you envision - 50/50?

From what I've read from your and S'mon's posts, I had always thought he would be 100% psion? Of course, you know him better than I do. :)

While my own campaign world isn't finalized yet, I do have a few epic NPCs in it.
One of them would be Gormerira (meaning Necromancer), a female elven lich. The actual level distribution is not yet set, but it would be about 35th level wizard/loremaster. She is rumored to be a "survivor" of the second generation of elves, searching in the Deep for a powerful artifact without much interest for the surface world.
