Epic Questions

Some things I looked for in the FAQ... alas...

1) Mord's Disjunction still works on epic spells, yes?

2) Can an epic spell be used to reflect/cancel Mord's Disjunction or other similar (Dispel Magic, etc)?

3) Are there any rules limiting the number of times a single meta-magic feat can be used on a spell? (i.e. multiple empowers, widen, etc.)

Thanks....

Oh, and what do other DM's do re: vorpal weapons in epic games? Does Heavy Fortification work against vorpal? (cancels critical.. so it seems so) Are there any other rules-enabled means of lowering the "your 1,400 hp mean nothing!" effect of vorpal weapons?

1. Yes

2. Yes, the Ward seed can effectively nullify a single spell or (for a much greater cost) an entire level of spells. It is possible to use the Reflect seed to turn back area of effect spells, but the cost is extremely high.

3. No.

Heavy Fortification armor negates criticals made by a vorpal weapon and, by extension, nullifies the ability to decapitate.

There have been some house rules suggested for vorpal weapons:

1. Beheading only occurs based on the original weapon's threat range (e.g. Keen, Improved Critical, etc. don't improve the chances).

2. Vorpal weapons can only behead opponents of one category size larger than you.

So the Epic spell (can't remember name right now) that wards against all 1st - 9th level spells works even on Dispel Magic and similar effects(Mord's Disjunct)?

Also, I think I like both of those house rules for vorpal. It leaves the danger in, but limits it.

The Ward seed is essentially a Globe of Invulnerability. The globe prevents effects of spells from X level or less from entering it. So a Fireball may explode around you, but the burst won't enter the area of the Globe.

You can also make the Ward personal rather than like a Globe.
