Half of a 20th level characterā€™s HP is somewhere between 55 and 85 HP on average, depending on their class;
Plus negating part of the last hit.
If your at 10 HP, get hit for 30, and now your at 80HP = up 100.

And if you have a low Con score, Fortitude also heals for less.

I.e.
A wizard with +1 Con will get 51+15 HP.
Fortitude needs to be healed 66 times to match it. Minimum.

Vs
A Barbarian with +5 Con will get 122+15 HP
Fortitude needs to be healed 27 times to match that.
Itā€™s a bit more total HP, but more than half of it can only be used in emergencies, and the first half actively makes the second half harder to access.
You only need it in emergencies.

If you take 30 damage in a battle, doesn't matter which one you took. Neither really did anything.

Notable exception being the Power Word stuff. Where 40 more HP could mean a lot.
Between the 40 extra HP and 20 hit die uses, youā€™re already 2/3 of the way caught
Pretty sure the default is spending all the hit dice at once after a short rest. Not per turn.

But correct me if i am wrong
You need to be healed 20 times to catch the rest of the way up, which is a big number sure,
It depends on your spells.

Healing word is just once, and you will never catch up.
Goodberry is 10 times.
Regenerate is 60 times.
Champion gets extra HP per turn.

but again, they had to fall unconscious once to get most of that
They don't fall unconscious.

it's funny that "epic" boons are at 19th level.
Why did they moved from 20th level?
Class capstone could have been 19th level
Or epic level boon could have been 20th level ability separate from class levels but a core mechanic like proficiency bonus scaling.

Now that I think about it, all feats should have been based on character levels, except classes with bonus feats(fighter, rogue).

What are your thoughts on how the epic boons stack up?

All of them add 1 to any ability score, to a maximum of 30.
my first off the cuff thought is if they are raising the limit from 20 to 30 they should give a +2 to the sat... so 5 of them will bring your 20 to a 30, and the classes that get the 24 (I think just barbarian and monk) can do it in 3...

I may be wrong, I will see

Of course, the real answer is obviously to play to epic levels and take both! On a Barbarian! With 30 Con! And the Tough feat! šŸ˜œ

In GODS, DEMI-GODS AND HEROES it says that a forty-plus level character is ridiculous. In our game we have two characters that are at one thousand-plus level. This happened in ā€œArmageddon,ā€ a conflict between the gods and the characters. Of course, the characters won. What do you think about that?

Plus Ƨa change, plus c'est la mĆŖme chose.

Truesight to see the true forms of creatures at the tavern.

Folks who time their multiclassing right can take one at 19 and 20.

Folks with Wish can potentially replace all their feats with epic ones at 19. If they have Musician, odds of losing Wish drops from 33% to 11%.
