D&D (2024) The New Direct Damage Spells You Should Be Using.

Truestike has an 80' range, 360 with disadvantage.
100' if you get martial weapons.
And nothing stops you from swapping to melee if needed.

Depens on the party too.

I'm in a group with a pike polearm master wild heart barbarian (bonus action dash + disengage, reaction push), and a ranged battlemaster fighter (slow / push / topple maneuver), and a life cleric (as backup). And I drop web as my go to. Very effective keep away. Though we end up in a suspicious amount of ambushes from all sicombination.

So Truestrike/Ray of Frost would be probably be optimal.

but I could definitely see Truestrike + mind sliver as an good combo, but it depends on the party.

I'm still sticking with Sorcerer's Burst + ray of frost for thematic reasons though.

Yeah depends on how you play. Ray of frost is generally my go to as well.

Minds liver kinda got missed as it was in tashas iirc.i I expect to see it more now it's phb. A large pat of that was due to how mediocre firebolt was. Best cantrip low level?light crossbow or longbow depending on race. That's changed.
