'doubles as damage' = the specific amount is doubled when used as Damage

I would never have used or interpretted 'doubles as' in that way. 'Doubles as' means something more like 'has an additional role/use as'.

well not my problem, an English sentense can be interpretated in alot of ways

But that isn't really one of them.

Look, I'm guessing you aren't a native English speaker. In the grand scheme of things, this isn't terribly important, but give it up. You were wrong. It's OK to be wrong.

i hope you do know that i was corret in everything i wrote right?

To be honest, I have never encounters "doubles as" meaning that it is twice the amount in certain circumstances. It's one of those expressions.

Back off topic: The more I think of it, the more I think about it, the less I consider this to be the proper place to discuss semantics. Just let it go. We now know what he meant and all's well.

so i was wrong while you were right? pretty 1 sided ey? Dont you ever get tired of such childish comments?

Btw, to question 1)

Theres Several undead templates... and alot of them lower the challenge rating of an undead creature, simply because they do get alot weaker..

Hey, bashing that poor book for its bad latin, but using bad english yourself (an feat instead of a feat). :p

They wriggled themselves out of Libris Mortis. What's your excuse ;)

Good English, bad typing. :D

Thanks for the responses. As for solutions to the low undead HP- making Cha, even via a feat, the equivalent of con is insane. Think about a lich sorceror for one minute. Then imagine him boosting his Cha as high as he can get it. Bad. Although, the idea about giving them feats that give extra hp (hopefully per level) is excellent. Like still having a con bonus but more costly to them and not (quite) as effective.

The paladin damage thing seems to have gotten lots of attention about its language and little solution. I'm gonna solve it by allowing a will save for half damage for the undead and making a spell that allows undead to resist 30 points of healing per round (much like protection from elements), with possible epic versions of it and empowering and all that goodness. Maybe even a Ring of Positive Energy Resistance or three. Or perhaps crafy folks could cast it on the living, but it'll have to allow a will save for that use.

Also, now that I think about it Blackguard being a prestige class is what balances it out against Paladin. Primarily because it gives them all the skills and some of the abilities of the class they started as (ranger skills or fighter feats) in addition to Blackguard benefits, whereas Paladins can't advance any more if they take any levels in anything other than Paladin. Makes a blackguard better suited for versatiliy while the paladin remains considerably more durable. I love the variants enough that I might use them anyway, however.

doubles as damage?? ok i see that's what be wrote, but..

On normal english its about the same, jsut 2 ways of putting it...

'does double damage' = 2x damage
'doubles as damage' = the specific amount is doubled when used as Damage

Which is more or less the same

And No, healing doesn't Deal double damage, neither do they double the amount when used against undeads...

"Doubles as damage" doesn't mean "Does double damage" by any reading of the language.

Think of it like a spork (not sure if you folks have sporks in Denmark). It's a spoon, that doubles as a fork! All hail the spork! :D
