I dunno--the stress test for WoW, about two months ago, was pretty smooth, I thought, and thegame has undergone a lot of revision since then. I've been reading the WoW messageboards, and I get the impression that a lot of beta testers just don't want to have to start paying to play the game 
.
Many testers are saying that WoW is already more stable and more complete than most other MMORPGs are six months after they're released. I suspect that Blizzard, being a bunch of perfectionists, would keep it in beta for another two years if they could.
But they can't, and the game is already wonderful, and I suspect we'll be seeing the Open Beta any day now.
