Equip my cleric!

DungeonmasterCal

First Post
I've been invited to play with some folks this Saturday. The character level range is 12-16. They asked if I'd play a cleric, so I rolled up an NG 12th level cleric. I've got a mazillion things to do before Saturday, and I don't know if I'll have time to fully trick him out. I used Jamis Buck's NPC generator to create the stats, and that's about all I have time for.

So, I appeal to the creative masses of ENWorld to offer suggestions for level appropriate equipment and items.

Thanks in advance!

STR 15, DEX 14, CON 12, INT 13, WIS 18, CHA 14.

I see this character as more of a frontline warrior than a wait in the back band-aid for the party, so his feats are Improved Turning, Extra Turning, Combat Casting, Power Attack, Cleave, & Great Cleave.

His domains are Strength and Sun.

Ok -- Front Line Cleric eh?

If your GM allows it I swap Dex and Con and go with Full Plate for higher surviavability if you do that you can drop the Mithril from thr armor and save some cash

Also Combat Casting sucks -- just use Skill Focus Concentration or better give the dude weapon focis ro something

-- but using just the stats listed here here is what I see working --

#1 Mundane Kit 400 -- This is packs, food etc Holy Symbol Etc

#2 Amulet of health +2 -- this gives 12 extra HP and 1 point of fort save 4000

#3 Gauntlets of Ogre Power +2 to Strength +1 Weapon damage +1 to hit -- nuff said 4000

#4 Cloak of resistance +3 9000

#5 Boots Striding and Spriging 5500

#6 Brooch of Shielding 1500

#7 Lions Shield (+2) 9170

#8 Mithril Full Plate +3 10000

#9 Cold Iron Morning Star +2 10616

#10 Cure Light Wand 750

#11 Handy haversack 2000

#12 Phylactery of Undead Turning 11000

#13 3 eagles Spendour potions (for Turning) 900

#14

#15

With Dex you AC will be 27 -- good enough for the front line -- You will do 1d8+5 on a blow in melee or you can do variosu nasty turning tricks as well

You can melle with the best of em and in a crunch haste up to 3 attacks per round -- 4 if you use the lion Shield --

JMO but the cleave fit is probably a waste on that build since you don't have any heavy hammer type attacks or a greataxe or anything -- I would consider War as a Domain in instead of Strength --

If you do this build drop the shield and morning star for a Cold Iron +2 Spellstoring Great Sword-- you can stash Searing Light in it for a nice 5d8 Smack down -- and if you want to grow take take 3 potions of Enlarge (l6) to keep you happy -- they are 300 each

Your War domain spells include such fun stuff as Blade Barrier and Flame Strike -- ouch

Don't forget the bundle of pamphlets advertising your god. It's always good to aquire new sheeps for the herd. I was able to get some very helpful canno....erm followers with that.

After talking with these guys last night, I got the impression they're not really into the roleplaying aspect of things. Their style is kick in the door, kill the critter, and take its stuff. Repeat as necessary.

remember with the strength domain you get Enlarge Person as a L1 domain and Bull's Strength as a L2 Domain. Kit yourself out with a greatsword. Check what they have been running into and kit yourself out with some alchemical capsules to coat your weapon with silversheen, or whatnot to get around their damage reduction. Swap your Dex and COn and go with the heavy armor.

I would ditch Great Cleave and Improved Turning, and get some divine feats like Divine Might to do some extra damage and use those extra turnings for something other than just turning (unless you're going to have more than 5 undead encounters a day).

Otherwise, I like the item list and everything else. Swaping con and dex is a good idea.
