Errata: Incarnate Prestige Class

SSS-Druid

First Post
Greetings.

We have posted the revised Incarnate prestige class at www.swordsorcery.com ; though it is fairly different from the original, we think that it does two things -- better adheres to the original concept behind the prestige class; and better adheres to the d20 rules.

;)

Enjoy!

TWO BIG THUMBS UP FROM HERE! :)

This revision TOTALLY works for me. It's still plenty powerful BUT it has enough restrictions to keep it from going out the window. Nice job JD! :) I still think though you might have wanted to keep "being able to cast 3rd level druid spells" would work. But overall, not much that needs to be changed. Incarnates ROCK! :) Someone send Monte Cook a copy!

I like the look of the new version. The old one was always my favourite in R&R. However, some questions if you would not mind answering. I like the CR approach but 1) how may times can you wildshape per day......6 times for 6 lifeforms? 2) what size restrictions are there for lifeforms.......ie a gargantuan scorpion is a vermin with a CR 9 and alignment N.....therefore can you use this as a lifeform? Or are size restrictions based upon polymorphself....one catagory larger? Also in MM creatures such as hydra, ankhegs and bulletes are just N beasts.....therefore can these be used?
Cheers for answering

The ability to assume Pastlife Forms is still limited by the druid's wildshape, which gives some incentive to continue advancing in the druid class, as well. I'm not sure if it made it in, but each pastlife form gain is also supposed to increase the number of wildshapes per day that the character can use.

I would indeed impose polymorph self restrictions (such as size); note, however, that you can indeed become wacky things like ankhegs and hydras, yes. ;) It is a powerful ability -- its supposed to be, frankly.

sorry to be slightly rules specific! But what do you mean by you are limited by the druid wildshape ability for past lifeforms? Does this mean that you cannot become a dire animal for example until you have the appropiate druid level even though say a dire bat has CR~2 or 3 and could become one with one of your 2nd+ level lifeforms? Or do you mean the number of times per day a druid can wildshape per day? The way I view it is that it is a limitation on the number of times per day from the druid aspect which are increased further with successive past lifeforms remembered. The creature chosen is then determined by CR and size. This would allow a 5th or 6th lifeform to be a bullete. Obviously if a DM didn't mind about a size restriction- now that would be a cool situation (sorry a bit power gaming) but just imagine an incarnate for his or her CR 10 form being a gargatuan scorpion or a tyrannosaurus rex! Just imagine the shock or fright (role played obviously) on an army of goblins or the like!

from Dreams of the Past
"Special: This feat may be taken multiple times, each one for different skills. Note that when this feat is taken, a "past life" must be chosen that corresponds to the skill. This past life is limited to that of an animal or vermin."

If the feat is taken multiple times do you get to chose a new animal each time or must you keep the original animal and just add new skills? The wording isn't specific about this.

Also, since you have posted this class and feat on your web page are they OGC?

You're right; that was kind of vague. My bad.

Though now that you bring it up, I don't see any reason why you can't choose either/or.

The dreamer may be finding ties with other animals, or gaining greater links with the one he already knows.

Does anyone have a copy of the revised Incarnate rules? I thought I had a copy of them on my computer, but can't locate them now. I checked the White Wolf site, and the rules are not there....likely because of the expiry of the D20 license.

But if someone has those rules, I'd appreciate it, if they could let me know, and e-mail me a copy of them.
