Not sure how I feel about the displacement ability. It might be more annoying than anything, especially when you roll that 19... I wonder how that would interact with the improved crit range of say a Daggermaster...

Anyways, cool monster.

I think it's a brilliant approach. Classic displacement effects have always had a chance to screw you out of a good roll. This one is specifically designed to not screw you out of a natural 20, and avoids having to make a second roll to determine success. Brilliant!

Additionally I find the old “recharges when the Displacer Beast moves 2 squares” to be a lot more flavourful than “recharges at the start of its next turn”. It allows the PCs to corner one (or slow/immobilise it) and hammer it while it is vulnerable, allowing good PC tactics like this creates better monsters.

Anyway that is my assessment of the new Displacer Beast.

I was going to criticize it for being nearly identical to the older version, but this is an important difference. Good eye.
