Essentials DM Screen

Any info on this?

I love the original 4E DM screen: sturdy as hell, conveniently half-height, and a freakin' awesome mural that makes me look like an amazing DM who should be receiving checks from Hasbro just for standing behind it.

What? The inside of the screen has been errated to hell and back?

Meh. I'm the DM. If I'm not sure I make it up.

But anyway, getting back on topic... The DM Kit preview pic show the same mural pic with a new interior but made it look like it's just cardstock instead of the glossy paper over plate mail the original is made out of.

Is it too much to hope that if the new screen is just cardstock, it's the exact same interior dimensions as the old one so I can glue/tape/staple/lick over the one I have?

There putting out two screens. One is in the DM's Kit. It's my understanding that that's like the old 4e screen, but with errataed tables and on thin card stock. I do believe it's the same dimensions as the old one.

The second one is sold separately in Feb. I'm hoping that it's on the same material used to make the old 4e one, because I like it as much as you do.

I will probably end up pasting the essentials DM Kit one on the inside of my old 4E one because it is NOT errata'd to hell and back. All the tables are wrong, which sucks... why no DM screen errata?

I believe in the Ampersand column about the DM Kit, it is said that the screen included with the kit is not the same material as the Deluxe DM Screens... they are lower thickness. I'd imagine they might be along the lines of the module and softcover book covers. Glossy thick paper cardstock (but this is just guessing based on the little info from the article).

There is also an all-new Deluxe screen being released in February (as was said) that is the thicker cardboard screen.

They also mentioned the DM screen in the DM's kit will be kind of a DM's screen for beginners... Not sure exactly what that means.

I wish they'd release it earlier (why not coinciding with Essentials?) - a fully up-to-date and completely errata'ed screen is overdue... and the cardstock they use is great.

And I dig the new artwork - the only complaint about the original DM screen (apart from the lack of errata) is that the artwork, while cool, is very gloomy. The new one looks much better! :)

Cheers, LT.
