The death of martial healing - cant you see it hit points as bits of flesh whacked off only healable by spell casters the only leader is an oxymoronic war priest.

The fog of war fading in to nothing expect control to be the realm of casters only too.

No more building non-combatant heros.-- it was an accident they were supported anyway.

So long Warlord - you are "essentially" dead.

The grognards without imagination have taken over the asylum.

I am shuffling through my library of fantasy fiction... and wondering? The number of characters in fantasy movies that cheer their allies on raise there morale and do it without wallowing in religious dogma ? is this exceded by the presense of the holy warrior.

I doubt the 'complaints' of the 'grognards' had anything to do with WotC's decision to not include the Warlord in either Heroes book. If people's complaints about things being left in or out of books held any real weight with them... the gnome wouldn't have been left off an introductory game slate for the second time.

Well, you can always bring in the warlord from "regular" D&D.

No warlord support in the Essentials line is like no warlord support in PH3. :)

I think what he's worried about is that here ends any future support for the idea of martial healing.

Precisely what "future support" did it need? The warlord is presented in the PHB. It has new powers and new builds in two separate Martial Power books. Odds are pretty good that we wouldn't have seen much more expansion on the class for a good long while with or without the Essentials line. Odds are even better that we wouldn't see another martial healer, because there was no point to it.

So I'm honestly not sure where any of this is coming from.

Actually, depending on how well the Essentials line does, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of having Essentials-like builds for the warlord at some point in the future. It wouldn't be part of the official 10 "must-have" Essentials, of course, but apparently neither are products such as Player's Option: Heroes of Shadow, which has already been mentioned.
