Essentials preview: The purple worm

It seems contradictory to me. From the outside you don't have line of sight or line of effect, so how can those inside be affected by the burst or blast if you don't have line of effect to them?

I'll have to reread it when I can get around the firewall at work, but I'm pretty sure that those inside the worm are not affected by blasts from outside. I thought it read that if somebody inside the worm creates a burst or blast that it affects everyone inside the worm. (emphasis added)

This is correct.

The precise text reads:
If the target attacks the worm using a close or an area attack, that attack targets all other creatures swallowed by the worm.
The target refers to the swallowed creature inside the worm, not anyone outside and thus their bursts/blasts target other creatures inside and the worm.

What is a purple worm going to do with minor actions?
One of three things

Question...

This is listed at the end of the description of Devour Whole

While swallowed, the target takes 30 acid damage at the end of its turn. When the effect ends or the worm drops to 0 hit points, the target appears in an unoccupied square of its choice adjacent to the worm.

What effect are they talking about? Is Devour Whole considered an effect? Or is the acid damage he takes at the end of his turn the "effect" they are talking about?

This either means that, when Devour Whole ends, the target appears in an unoccupied square. At when does Devour Whole end? At the end of the Purple Worms turn? Or in the midde of the Purple Worms turn (it is a Standard Action, so it could end before he uses other actions on its turn).

The other thing it could mean is, after the target takes the 30 acid damage at the end of his turn, he appears in an unoccupied square. But how do you determite when that ends? There is no "save ends" text on it. Does it end the first turn after you take the acid damage? If so, they could have just written that "target takes 30 acid damage at the end of his turn, and then chooses an unoccupied square adjacent to the purple worm to end his turn in".
