Essentials Thief - what can the rogue steal ?

First Post
Okay we arent playing Essentials, but I hear there is some stuff the Rogue can use.

Can someone tell me what these do, and are they class feats or general feats, as I thought thief feat aint the same class as rogue feat ?

"Light Blade Expertise" - ??
Does it stack with Weapon Expertise

"Master at Arms" = ?? what does it do exactly.
Does it stack with LBE or WE ?
Does it stack with Weapon Spec that gives +1 damage per tier.

What about Cleric, any good feats the cleric might want from Essentials.

All of the expertise feats (including Weapon Expertise, which has been errataed, and is now overshadowed by the new weapon-specific feats anyway) give feat bonuses to attack rolls, and thus don't stack with each other.
None of the weapon expertise feats have class prerequisites.

This is kind of a loaded question. There are a good deal of awesome feats in Essentials (and some I'm not particularly fond of). There aren't any feats with "Cleric" as pre-requisite in the book and I'm fairly sure they're moving away from that model in general.

I don't have my copy of the book handy so I cannot give you any prime examples at the moment. There were several that certainly were aimed more at the Cleric than, say, the Slayer.

Also, there's no new, shiny Holy Symbol Expertise.

There are rogue utility powers that a rogue might want to grab. On top of this, sling expertise allows you to avoid OAs, crossbow xp ignores cover (good for cunning sneaks), light blade xp adds damage, Disciple of Shadows gives you darkvision, Eager Advance is extra speed on your first turn

Holy Symbol Expertise soundsss... interesting.

Ah so it looks even though we are not running essentials we are going to have to get this book.

So is Weapon Focus replaced by "Master at Arms"

Nothing is 'replaced'. Existing feats are all still valid. If you want Expertise with a holy symbol then take Versatile Expertise, same as ever. There may be better choices in HotFL, but I don't know.

You can poach anything from Essentials. Just read it like the feat or power it is, HotFL is no different from a PHB or a Power book, whatever is in it is usable. You just can't take things that are based on class features you don't have and there are a LOT of those in Essentials. Even so there's plenty to loot. PHB cleric can take pretty much any of the Warpriest's powers, same for Wizards and Mage powers. Martial characters are going to be limited to some Utility powers pretty much, and feats, is all.
