Essentials : What to Use and What to Lose? Can of Worms

Are you referencing the Hexblade or Binder? Because the latter is woefully inadequate in its role.

Neither. They did an overhaul of the phb warlock, fixing damage scaling of Curse, along with the damage numbers and some features of a fricken ton of powers. It was multiple pages, covering basically the whole class.

Ah, gotcha. I rely so heavily on the online tools still that I had forgotten about that update! Thanks for clarifying!

No worries.

I also really like he hexblade, but I know tony doesn't, so I wasn't even going to mention it to him. I would like the binder if the numbers worked right. That is the problem with most e classes. The numbers just don't work.

I think I read there was a Warlock feat (perhaps an MC one) just plain removed I think for conjuring your bond weapon and which allowed one to do the at-will for it?

I just don't think it is worth trying to parse out the e-era updates. You could ban the classes, but why really even bother? Truthfully its a tossup if the Mage is actually better than the Wizard (it gets some better things and some worse things, but the powers all work for both, so who cares really?).

Truth is the stuff will all work. There are a few slightly 'bad' classes, like the Binder, and perhaps for certain niche setups something like a Slayer can be pretty optimized (but it will still be crappier at high levels no matter what).

If you don't really want to use E-Classes AT ALL, then I'd say just ditch them, but keep the new feats! The Essentials Expertise feats BTW are fine, they give you some sort of new option, PLUS the attack bonus. So, every PC will eventually pick one, but they do have a meaningful choice.
