Essentrials-only, what'd your party be?

I can't speak for hypotheticals, but in two weeks our regular group is starting Epic (we started at level 1) and for the sake of the story/change of pace, our party kind of turned all-essential, with one exception. So yeah, I cheated a bit but since it's a real party, I figured you'd be lenient on my crimes against your thread.

Controller: Human Mage, Shifter Ranger (was Seeker)
Defender: Drow Cavalier of Valour (Switched from normal Paladin due to simplicity)
Leader: Half-Elf Sentinel Druid (Was a Shaman but fluff/other stuff makes this a natural shift)
Striker: Hexblade Tiefling (with the "I want to marry an Archfey" Pact from Dragon/Lady of the White Well), and a Half-Orc Sorcerer that's not Essential, but hey, he was the 1st class to have Essential-type simple striker bonus damage, so thus I leave him in.

And there you go. It's going to be a bit surreal, jumping into Essentials at Epic. I've played the Hexblade a bit in the RPGA, but...well, yeah. Epic is...Epic.

I would be curious to see how Essentials works at Epic. It really does not seem as if it will work well.

So, using only Essentials, what would your party composition be like?

I recently started an Essentials only game with 6 PCs. Here's what they are playing:

Human Fey Hexblade, using the Lady of the White Well material from Dragon.
Human Sword Slayer.
Elven Thief, who is rebuilding her character as an Executioner Assassin now that the material is out. Not sure which guild yet.
Dwarven Summer Sentinel.
Dwarven Earth Warpriest.
Half-Elf Valor Cavalier.

Like many others my group will be starting an essentials only campaign in a few weeks and the party composition is a Half-Orc Slayer, Tiefling Mage, Halfling Feyblade, Half-Elf Druid and Eladrin Thief.

Should be interesting. Honestly chatting with Mike Shea tells me that Epic is a surreal wonderland that not a lot of people have much experience playing...I don't know how to spot things that do & don't work. Like how to quantify the Epic Destiny "I don't die" Options. On the flipside, by Epic any character can qualify for all 3 of the Superior Essential Feats...and there's more Tier Growth in Essential feats than any other specific source. Not saying it'll go great, but just trying to focus on Essentials in Epic doesn't seem so terrible.
But yeah, I plan on posting up how it goes.

"PLaying the Hexblade, by the by"

If I were to convert one of my existing groups to Essentials, it'd become:

Elf evoker.
Human thief.
Half-elf assassin; whichever one is best with a scimitar, and doesn't use a blowgun.
Human valor cavalier.
Halfling druid with a pet wolf.
Human slayer who fights barehanded. Well, originally he was a psion-monk who fought bear-handed.

If I were to make one today to try to be interesting, I'd go for:

Drow sun warpriest.
Half-orc fey hexblade.
Tiefling sentinel with a bear companion that also has ram horns.
Dwarf crossbow hunter.
Halfling staff knight.

If I could get the group I'm playing in to play 4e again and we converted the current party to all Essentials builds, it'd probably end up...

Human knight
Elf mage (necromancer specialty when Heroes of Shadow comes out)
Elf thief (something of a stretch; actually a monk)
Human warpriest (sun) (actually a cloistered cleric, so even more of a stretch)

We have an Eberron group right now that consists almost entirely of Essentials characters:

Dwarf Hammer Knight
Dwarf Sun Warpriest
Half-Elf Thief (played by me)
Gnome Pyromancer Mage

Controller- a Half-Elf Enchanter Mage with a high Bluff, Diplomacy, & Streetwise.
Defender- a mohawked Half-Orc Hammer Knight who won't ride on airships.
Leader- a silver-haired, pipe-weed smoking Human Storm Warpriest.
Striker- a Drow Star Hexblade with a cockroach familiar.

I love it when a party comes together.
